| WHO | Copycat, Glinda WHAT | Shapeshifting Mutant vs. Witch WHEN | The day before the finale WHERE | In one of the fissures WARNINGS / NOTES | Character death. Violence. The usual.
The clock is ticking down to the final hours of the games, by the sounds of the cannons going off in the sky, and by now Copycat has gotten her hands incredibly dirty (to the inevitable joy of the Capitol, no less) but with the numbers dwindling down the chances of someone just stumbling across her little crevasse? It's beginning to look like she might actually need to hunt.
Not that it's a difficult task, seeing as she spends most of her time as Sabretooth, which allows her to hear and smell a stranger from almost a mile away. And as fate would have it, she's caught a scent. Ooh, and it's nearby!
Copycat shifts to her human form - Vanessa Carlysle -- average height, long blonde curls and golden amber eyes -- to begin her approach looking completely frightened and harmless.
Just the way she likes it. |

| WHO | R and Copycat [Closed] WHAT | R has another run-in with a Tribute. It goes worse than before. He probably should learn how to climb too in the future. They shank each other. WHEN | After his spat with Atticus in the crevasse. WHERE | A crevasse not far from the Cornucopia. WARNINGS / NOTES | Gore, death.
Note to self: wolves still aren't worth hunting down.
Now he’s minus an arm and he has nothing to show for it. Today isn’t his day.
R really does sigh this time.
He does it again a few days later. Being a zombie is like that: the days seem to last forever or, blink-and-you’ll-miss it, suddenly it’s a week later shuffling down a hall or bumping into the same bench over and over. R cranes his head to look up. Same sky as before, a few stars winking at him. Still cold down here. He can register it making even a shamble hard work and it’s starting to creep in that feels…uncomfortable. Bad, AKA he’s starting to suspect he can actually feel it. Weird. R isn’t sure what to make of it. What he does know is he wishes he had his arm back. Having a stump flopping around throws his balance off. No wonder he’s run into more walls than usual. How the other zombies made it look so easy is beyond him and R thinks those Dead deserve major props, on second thought.
Climbing out is a no-go when his hand-eye coordination isn’t exactly good on the best of days. After awhile R gave up. Or more like the simply lost the urge, had it slide away like everything else, and now he stares up at the sky, his eyes wide as he strains to listen. Huh, he thought he heard something. A voice? A footstep against the snow? The zombie turns toward the sound like it’s a magnet. Hey, at this point, anything beats getting personal with another wall of snow and ice again. It makes the airport look like a party.
A chunk of ice comes is dislodged from overhead, tumbling down and crashing at R's feet. The zombie strains toward the activity above him. One of those others that Atticus was all worried about? Another Dead?

| Who: Blaine and Copycat What: Blaine's death. Where: Near the small cave that Sebastian took Blaine to on his first day. When: Before the glacier break. Warnings/Notes: Character death
Blaine was starving and weak. He needed to get up and do something about it. After Sebastian's death he had mostly been hiding in the little cave, trying to pretend this wasn't happening. The idea that he was just wasting away made him feel so useless.
That's how he found himself packing up all of the supplies that Sebastian left and slinging them over his back before he slipped on his glare resistant goggles. He'd have to brave the outside, he told himself.
No matter how dangerous. |

| Usually, the tribute's outfits for the arena aren't accessorized. But today, the last thing their stylists hand them before the countdown begins is a pair of heavy black glasses, polarized and thick-lensed. They look at odds with the thick, winter gear they've been outfitted in.
It's a long rise to the surface today, inside their individual little tubes, much longer than usual. They start to feel the cold only about halfway up, and to hear the wind. It howls across the surface as they reach it, pressing all of their clothes flat against their bodies. And the reason for the glasses is immediately apparent.
20 - 19 - 18
The sky is white. The ground is white (and gray and black and blue but mostly white), the far-off sea is blinding silver. Everything in sight flings light around, fractures it into scintilating rainbows and sheer white beams of reflection. It is strong, cruel light, and it bears no heat at all. The surface is so cold that the little metal trackers ache in everyone's arm, and the countdown has to continue at a deafening volume to be heard.
12 - 11 - 10 -
The circle of silver pedestals is the only regular shape to be seen. All else is fractured and split, the most uneven footing imaginable. And at the center of the circle, the Cornucopia sports icycles hanging from its lip, almost to the pile of supplies tucked all neatly inside its mouth.

There's a lull in the wind just as the gong sounds, letting it peal out across the frozen glacier, and echo off the high rock cliffs in the distance. And the ice answers, with a loud crack that seems to come from miles down.
