What| Even more reasons to hate the Capitol.
Where| Everywhere.

Warnings/Notes| Any group is being targeted to be separated. Everyone should be tagging someone they are not with, as well as those they are, as the Gamemakers are driving them apart. (You can feel free to search for, and possibly find your buddies later)

Once upon a time, when this place was a much happier place, fireworks would light up the sky, delighting children and leaving everyone with a magical feeling in their hearts.

This will not leave anyone with a magical feeling.

It was much later than a fireworks show would have ever gone. Closer to dawn then not, when anyone who could rest, even those far from it, would have finally managed to drift off.

It started with a strange, warbling music. For those familiar with this place it feels wrong, close to something they would connect with this show, but wrong. Distorted. Stumbling through a few bars, it starts to peter out just in time for a high pitches whistling.

And then the first firework explodes into the ground in a shower of bright colors, lighting up the castle. There is a moment of silence as the sparks fade.

And then all hell breaks loose.

Whoever is controlling the fireworks obviously have goals in mind. The strikes are tight, controlled. They are herding. Targeting the groups, the pairs, driving them apart.

The fireworks aren't made to kill (although a direct hit may), but they burn flesh, and leave anyone who looks at them too close momentarily blinded. Ever one is a shrieker, loud, louder then the shrillest fourth of July fireworks, screaming toward their targets. The arena is suddenly a shrill battleground, full of blindingly bright colors.

Th whole attack doesn't last longer than 20 minutes, petering off as the divisions have been deemed enough. A few squeal through the night here and there and then finally, blissfully silent.

Pruna almost froze, stuck between wanting to stick by this larger person she could use as a shield against the explosions, and fear that he might try and hurt her, wishing to run far away from this stranger who could be armed.

But another explosion nearby made her choose the former and she kept running.
hasacondition: (well it's a cute idea in theory)

They run, him keeping his speed surprisingly consistently fast for a guy who looks more comfortable in a lab than on a track. It's only when the explosions aren't pressing in on them that he stops, looks over his shoulder on instinct to see if they're being followed, and then hunches forward to pant.

Shit, he was going to have to go back at some point.

"You alright?" he manages to get out between his heavy breathing, getting a good look at her for the first time.

The girl was still at that age where she could run and run and never seem tired until she passed out and slept for twelve hours. But she was thirsty and tired and so was very glad for the rest.

She squinted through the darkness at her arm, even in the lack of light she could see the skin was raw and blistered, it hurt a lot and she bit her lip to hold back any noise.

She ignored the question, she didn't want him to think her weak, an easy target. "What did that be being?"
hasacondition: (it's probably less funny than you think)

"Uh--? Oh, fireworks, I think, they probably want to break us up--" Though it'd be pretty selfish to assume it was all because of them, they probably had more than a little to do with it. He's still used to having to explain things from his time, though, so just to be safe he tacked on a, "they're usually for entertainment."

He glanced down and made a slight wincing noise, more to be sympathetic than an actual reaction on his part to what it looked like. "I can take a look at that, if you want."

"They do be being for entertainment?" She raised her eyebrow, she couldn't imagine anyone finding that entertaining.

She looked at him suspiciously, "Why would you be doing that?"

People were strange here.
