Arena 06 - Happy

The last few hours before the Arena have a strangely stifled quality, as if half the people they interact with are trying very hard not to laugh. Maybe it's the costumes, the fancy gowns and velvet tunics, the short capes. Or maybe it's their destination.

The round courtyard to which the tubes bring them could not be more different from the last arena. Though outside the circle of pedestals, disrepair and neglect has taken over the roads and buildings, the garden inside the circle could not be more perfectly sculpted. Every hedge is a smooth, rounded shape. Flowers bloom brightly in concentric circles of insane color. The Cornucopia sits gleaming and golden, and just in front of its mouth, a bronze statue of a man and a mouse stands amid the heap of supplies.

20, shouts the voice from the sky.

Aside from it, there is a hush. No flies in the flowers, no wind in the trees. It is a cool day, with the comfortable chill of early spring and noon's short shadows.

19 - 18 - 17

Outside the circle, behind the tributes on the northern side, a castle looms. Through its wide gate, devastation everywhere, but it, itself, is shining clean, glowing pink and blue. Opaque windows look down from the heights of it, as uncaring as every hidden camera the veterans know is there.

12 - 11

Music starts as the countdown nears the bottom, a whimsical, dramatic tune.

And with the final note, the gong rang out, and a firework shot into the sky from the castle's peak, bright enough to burst redly across the sky above them all. Let the Games begin.

((OOC NOTES: IF YOUR CHARACTER HAS POWERS THE CAPITOL HAS NERFED, make sure you are on this list.

And everyone really should review the arena post. Because there's a little more to play with than you might think.

And please remember to add your character's tag to each post they're in.))

Yeah, Clint was so very not at all happy about the get up he was in.

Pink.

Fucking Pink.

(Disney prince, whatever, but pink? When he could clearly see people around him in purple?)

Anyhow. Since he had the chance this time, he was totally going for supplies. He was hoping for a bow, of course, but he'd take any kind of weapon he could get his hands on--not that he needed it, strictly, but it would come in handy.

He took the few seconds they had on their pedestals to take a look around him. Sure did look like a post-apocalyptic Disneyland, and this was the first time since he was about 12 that he wished he'd had a normal enough childhood to have been here before.

That thought was quickly pushed aside by the sound of the gong, though, and he headed for the first bag he could get to, not caring at all who was in the way.

Eliot didn't care who he had to fight off to get the bag. He was not about to head into this empty-handed. He angled his body to shoulder check the other man. He was getting that bag, as much for Parker and Lindsey as himself.

Clint wasn't letting it go that easy. The guy might have managed to push him out of the way, but he easily shifted his center of gravity and dove to grab the guy around the waist and take him down. He just needed the guy out of commission long enough to snag that bag for himself.

Eliot threw his head back as they fell. One hand reached down and grabbed the other man's finger, pulling it backward in hopes of loosening his grip. His other hand swung out, reaching for the bag.

Clint loosened his grip to keep from getting his finger broken, but he then swung his arm up to take a hold of Eliot's bicep to keep him from reaching the bag.

Eliot twisted around, pulling free of Clint except the hand on his arm. He aimed a knee at the other Tribute's crotch.

Clint was focused on Eliot's arm and missed the knee coming toward him until it was too late to block it. He managed to twist enough to lessen the impact a little, but it still connected.

"Jesus fuck!" he groaned, doubling up a little.

Eliot rolled away from Clint, taking advantage of his momentary distraction. He grabbed the bag and forced himself to his feet.

Clint rolled to his feet to leap after Eliot, not willing to let it go so easily.

Eliot glared at the other man. "You really want it to come to this now?"

Clint was bruised and bloody but not likely to back down just yet. "Haven't even started," he said, his voice a little strained as he went in for a tackle.

Eliot twisted so he'd land on top. He pressed an arm across Clint's throat.

Eliot turned his head so the strike hit his cheek instead. He moved with the hit, letting the momentum carry him backward until he was resting on his heels. Then he stood and started running.

Re: Eliot (open)

Clint leapt up to follow him, but one of the other tributes got in his way, and by the time, he got around the guy, Eliot was long gone.

"Fuck," he muttered under his breath, and then turned in the other direction and ran to find shelter.
