ARENA 09 - THE MUSEUM

The Tributes are woken up early for this Arena, and switched from whatever sleeping attire they're currently in to a set of pajamas, each designed for the individual in questions. Women wear onesies, and most of the men wear two-pieces, but other than that any similarities are at random - the outfits are in all sorts of colors and patterns.

The floor of the helicopter taking them to their Arena location, and of the underground entrance to the tubes that hoist them to the surface, will feel cold under their bare feet.

Rather than bringing them to sunlight, like the tubes have in the past, instead the Tributes are presented to a dark concrete ceiling in a badly-lit parking lot. Fluorescent lights do little to illuminate the cavernous space.

The countdown begins, announced as if from far away.

The Cornucopia, a ghastly thing carved from stone and concrete, sits at the center of a pattern of white and yellow lines reminiscent of spots for parked cars. The painted lines create a sort of spoked wheel, providing lanes for the Tributes leading to the prizes at the center. Some of the more unfortunate Tributes will find the concrete architecture has placed pillars in their lanes.

Six parked cars lie around the outskirts of the huge lot, barely visible in the dim lighting. Glowing exit signs on two opposite sides of the chamber announce where Tributes should go to escape the bloodbath. Elevator doors are perched beneath them.

The gong rings out, and the countdown's voice announces "the Arena is now open". The Games have begun.

"I certainly don't see the harm." He admits, not showing so much as a hint of wariness. After all, he likes R already. He's so very accommodating and not at all as suspicious as he ought to be.

Hans feels like he should see this through, if only if it will solidify some trust between he and another tribute. And then use that trust to his advantage, perhaps sooner rather than later.

"Until we meet again?" He holds out a hand for a shake, raising a brow. He's not sure if R had intended to part now or later, but he's sure he'll find out soon.

Wow. Just...wow. If everyone was half as chill as Hans, the Games would probably over within the first week.

R's eyes glance down at the hand, still surprised that people willingly handshake with him these days. There had always been a faint flicker of revulsion when they touched his cold corpse's fingers. R takes the hand and shakes it, impressed by Hans' handshake. It's that perfect level of firm, authoritative, (manly?), and it's not clammy or dry. It's...perfect. Too bad R can't say that without it sounding creepy.

He settles for a smile. "Sure. Wishing us both good luck."

He knows he'll need it. He's sure that Hans, though, will probably get by just fine.

The sad truth is that if everyone were like Hans it would either drag on forever as everyone schemes behind the curtains or quickly as everyone executes ill-thought out plans. Really, we should all pray for a future where Hans isn't everyone.

A Prince is nothing without a well rehearsed handshake. It's one of the staples along with bowing, smiling and not picking your nose at the dinner table of anywhere ever. He'll smile right back, possibly the brightest he has in this entire conversation.

"I truly appreciate your assistance. If there's any way I can repay the favor, I'll be sure to act on it." Provided it's mutually beneficial. "I can't give a certain time for sure, but if we were to meet on the first floor again I'm sure we'd be able to find a way to take advantage of the cafe." He'll give him a knowing look before taking a step back.
