Who| Roland and you?

There's no need to wear the hat, scarf, or gloves he'd gotten in the Cornucopia, but he knows what it means that he's got them. It means he's got a bit of preparing to do. He breaks off a branch, sharpening it as best he can, and gets to work.

(2) tanning and cooking )

(3) stampede )

(4) anything else )

Who| Felicity and Roland, maybe a bit with Roland and Signless later. You, if you want your character to be killed. Message me, we can work a thing out, I'll add a prompt.
What| violence, murder, another day in the neighborhood
Where| abandoned zones
When| the very end of the arena
Warnings/Notes| nothing more than the usual for this game

Killing in these places, these arenas, it's a show. One the tributes are maneuvered into. The gamemakers manipulate and steer them into it, surely as Roland is trying to steer the approaching tribute into this small wreck of a room that, if things go as he hopes, will be her death. He takes no joy in it, moves with solemn efficiency until the wreck and rubble completely blocks the original path.

To use his hard-earned skill for so little reason, simply to give the monsters lounging on their thrones back in Panem some sport to cheer at, it takes Roland as close to believing in the concept of blasphemy as maybe he will ever get. He's tried to avoid purposeful killing, done a fair job of it, but he'd been under no illusions. He was never going to avoid this forever. Someone he loves might have a chance at surviving this, if no other tribute comes and takes that chance for themselves, and that is reason enough. It's a very simple lever, and a very effective one.

Said loved one would be troubled by this too, though just maybe for slightly different reasons. Which is why, even when Roland had started hearing that other tribute's first, distant noises, he hadn't even thought of telling Signless why he was asking his help blocking the hallway off. The barrier needs to seem solid but get done very quickly, and that'll go better without the reaction most people have to things like this. That need they have to soothe their conscience by arguing, pretending they don't know very well what it is that has to happen. There's no time for that.

The hallway is blocked. A room sits next to the apparent cave-in, its door open, and the door at its other end is open, too. It's a clear way through, quicker than going back, and as extra insurance Roland's taken a bottle out of Signless' medkit, smeared dust and dirt over it, and set it within easy view of that first door. He doesn't know the name on its label but it claims to kill pain, and so is the only part of that medkit that might still be thought valuable now time is so short.

Signless is outside of this little room, safely hidden. Roland is hidden inside it, standing next to a large sheet of metal leaning next to the open doorway. The station makes one of its announcements, five more minutes gone before whatever it is it's counting down to, and once that fades he listens again for that sound of approaching footsteps. Listens, and waits.

22nd-Dec-2014 02:04 pm - Enter the Mage
tevintage: (Displeased.)
Who: Dorian Pavus and OPEN
What: Dorian enters the arena
When: Current? So Mid Week 2?
Where: Outside then Inside.
Warnings: None as of yet, will update, but probably violence and perhaps death.

He didn't think it was a dream. Dorian knew dreams, knew the Fade, and wherever he had ended up now certainly wasn't that. He'd fought - or tried to - as soon as he woke up on that stark metal cot - had tried to summon lightning, fire, anything as the first guard came through. But he couldn't. Where he reached out to the Fade, nothing was there, and the realisation of this was enough to keep him passive for a few moments.

Well. Passive in body, at least. His mind was racing.
He half listened to the explanation as they told it to him. Blah blah the arena, blah blah fight to the death - it was all a ridiculous joke surely. It became somewhat less of a joke when they grabbed his arm and inserted something cold and hard into it. He would have set the whole room on fire, if he had any access to what was rightfully his. Instead he just glowered, fuming, as he was forced to dress and led to the tube.

The clothes made absolutely no sense - the under-suit at least looked somewhat like clothes, but when they put on the outer shell...

When he'd immediately gone to take the ridiculous glass helmet off, the assistant had laughed at him. "Well if you want to asphyxiate," he'd said and Dorian had glared at him and left it on. He could hear the air rushing into it, though he couldn't tell from where.

None of this made the least bit of sense, but he knew one thing:

He was not going to die before he figured out what was happening.

As he raised up to the arena, he couldn't help but look up - the huge bank of stars slowly growing to shimmer all around him. It took his breath away, for a long moment - standing there, dumbly, as he stared at the sky. He'd never seen anything like it. Even in the Fade, the sky didn't look like this.

He was so caught up in the vision that for a moment he didn't even realize he was floating - tethered, sure, but the weightlessness, when he noticed it, was completely disturbing. He cursed under his breath and began to struggle, grasping the tether to pull him back.

He was surrounded by buildings, and that looked the safest - would keep him from floating up into the endless sky, at least. It took him a good few minutes to learn how to propel himself, but finally he managed to make it to an airlock, the door opening as he approached. He scrambled inside, and as the door behind him shut, the room began to pressurize, and suddenly he was heavy again, falling hard into the floor. With a grunt, he got himself up, and stepped into the open door before him. Unconsciously, he murmured and tried to summon veil-fire to see where he was going, and-- it worked. The relief hit him hard, rushing through him.

"Well finally something goes right!" Dorian declared to himself as the flames went out. He had no staff, here, so the magic was harder to control, less predictable. He didn't want to set himself on fire. Not yet, anyway."

Still clad in the spacesuit, Dorian began to walk through the long, dimly lit hall. So. A fight to the death, was it? He absolutely hated being told what to do, but in this case he needed to stay alive long enough to find whoever was behind them.

And to figure out what they had done with the Inquisitor.

[ooc: His first encounter is reserved for Karkat and Shepard, so everyone else with meet him much more beat up, and his helmet smashed. He'll just be wandering around, but let me know if you need a special prompt! Dorian can be reasoned with, but he is a fully powered Mage, and will defend himself. 8D]]

1st-Nov-2014 08:31 pm - Mini Arena 3
etcircenses: (Default)
The kids are picked up from the daycare bright and early, but by the Capitol instead of their parents. It's just like old times in the arenas, with only children to contend.

25 - 24 - 23

Stylists are starting to get used to the mini-arenas, though it doesn't mean they've been allowed to dress tributes in whatever they want. All the tributes will be dressed as proxy copy of a respective video game character. All tributes are reminded about the ticket rules for this round.

20 - 19 - 18 - 17 - 16

The platforms lift them up, and there is no cornucopia to be seen. The only way tributes will be able to help and protect themselves is if they go out of their way to harm another tribute and get the tickets, which will be tallied by their watches. The lights of the games flicker and glow within the dark. Classic video game fight tunes play overhead. Before them lay a great and stretching obstacle course, filled with animatronic enemies and various other hazards.

11- 10 - 9 - 8

They've all been warned, don't step off your pedestal early. They have also been warned to put on a good show. That's all this is about, a good show. None of them have been told that there can be multiple winners this time around.

5 - 4

3

2

The sound of the gong plays crystal clear across the opening. The games have begun.

[OOC: Remember, this is forwardated by a week.]
