hasacondition: (there are a few things that anger me)

it's poetry in motion tbh

Who| Bruce (or, later, the Hulk) and open!
What| Trying and ultimately failing to stay alive
Where| First around the surface, then later on in a crevasse!
When| All through the second week!
Warnings| Is the Hulk a warning? There might also be some thoughts on past suicide attempts.
Notes | Earlier in the week, he'll be Bruce; after slipping into a crevasse with De and co, he'll be the Hulk for the majority of the remaining time! Tell me which you'd like to see in your tag, or make it obvious by the setting (if you're in a crevasse, you almost definitely get the Hulk).

Those up on the surface will see a not particularly threatening sight; Dr. Bruce Banner, grabbing his coat closer to him and trying not to stumble around in the snow. He keeps moving only because being killed means putting on a show, so he'll only stumble around to an area where it looks like no one's around before sitting down to pile up some snow as a windbreak and try to figure out how to get out of this.

The one time he could really use the other guy, of course, is when he's already gone; maybe this time he'll actually die when he climbs up into the Arctic and throws himself into a miserable hole. At least it'd give him a sense of closure.

Those down in the crevasse, if they happen to be around at the right moment, will hear a heavy thud, and maybe feel the ground shake. From that point on, they might catch a glimpse of an enormous green monster shambling around in the small space; maybe he's trying to climb back up, or maybe he seems to be looking for something. Maybe he's got a little less self-control than all that, though-- maybe he's just smashing shit.

"I--" Momoko hesitated, utterly bewildered. She checked behind her, and then to the side and in front for good measure, and saw nothing. "I don't think caffeine lasts that long?"

"Ah..." At this, Don looked sheepish. "Actually, the way I drink it before an Arena, it can last up to at least a week before I crash."

"...How do you drink it?" Momoko asked, almost morbidly curious. She also moved slightly so that her back was to the all, because the way Don had looked past her was still unnerving even though he'd stopped.

"I basically have nothing but coffee, 48 hours before the Arena starts. Usually seven or eight pots the first day, then the same amount and some more the second." Don nodded. Closest thing to just injecting it into him, really. "Then the morning of I have one more pot."

Momoko stared. "And that works? It keeps you awake?" She thought for a moment, then asked, "And doesn't kill you?"
polyturtle: (i love the world and everyone in it...)

"Hasn't in the past ten years." At this, Don can't help but smile. "I don't think it will do so any time soon. Turtles don't have to worry so much about water intoxication, after all."

"Oh. Well, I thought the caffeine would be more of a concern, actually," Momoko said uncertainly. "Particularly if it's making you, um, hallucinate?"
