Who|Peggy & Bucky
What| Close encounters of the AU kind.
Where| On the road to Tomorrowland.
When| Backdated to week 06.
Warnings/Notes| Nothing yet!
Bucky was hungry; he was hungry in a way that went bone deep. the only place he knew that had food was Tomorrowland, but he didn't know what it was called or how, precisely, to get back. (Every time he took a turn, he seemed to wind up in Critter Country. And every turn in Critter Country just made him more desperate. )
He was still making an effort at stealth— not travelling the main paths, sneaking from fake tree to fake tree. But he knew he was getting easier to see him, he just didn't have the energy to be careful, anymore. That was another reason he had to get more food.

It was a poor plan to stop in an open area, especially when carrying a bundle of freshly picked fruit, but she didn't have much choice. It had been days, days, since she had changed the dressings on that burn and if it wasn't already infected then it was well on it's way to be so.
Peggy grimaced as she hiked her shirt up and stared at the mangled, dark stained bandage. There was no earthly way she was going to get that off without screaming, no matter how hard she grit her teeth.

The third thing he noticed was that those legs were attached to a looker.
But he didn't say, any of that. What he did say, coming out of the woods as if from nowhere, was, "You should have water, for that." Bucky only had a little bit left to him, but honest, he wouldn't have to think before offering it up.

Peggy was no where near proud of the startled sound she made when the younger man stepped out of the wooded area behind her. Her heartbeat stuttered for a moment, fear curling around inside her chest, but then he spoke.
"I know, but I'm not putting any of the water in here anywhere near my leg."
She's almost certain it's already infected. She doesn't need her whole leg to fall off.

But, well, he can't just leaver her like this. That wouldn't be proper, right?

"Should be. Like how none of us should be here to begin with?"
She's testy and at some point she will apologize for it, just not now. Not here.
"But thank you for offering it. Dehydration is worse than this mess. I'll survive it."
Or she really hoped she would because explaining to Steve why she hid a potentially fatal wound was not something she had in mind.
