hasacondition: (there are a few things that anger me)

it's poetry in motion tbh

Who| Bruce (or, later, the Hulk) and open!
What| Trying and ultimately failing to stay alive
Where| First around the surface, then later on in a crevasse!
When| All through the second week!
Warnings| Is the Hulk a warning? There might also be some thoughts on past suicide attempts.
Notes | Earlier in the week, he'll be Bruce; after slipping into a crevasse with De and co, he'll be the Hulk for the majority of the remaining time! Tell me which you'd like to see in your tag, or make it obvious by the setting (if you're in a crevasse, you almost definitely get the Hulk).

Those up on the surface will see a not particularly threatening sight; Dr. Bruce Banner, grabbing his coat closer to him and trying not to stumble around in the snow. He keeps moving only because being killed means putting on a show, so he'll only stumble around to an area where it looks like no one's around before sitting down to pile up some snow as a windbreak and try to figure out how to get out of this.

The one time he could really use the other guy, of course, is when he's already gone; maybe this time he'll actually die when he climbs up into the Arctic and throws himself into a miserable hole. At least it'd give him a sense of closure.

Those down in the crevasse, if they happen to be around at the right moment, will hear a heavy thud, and maybe feel the ground shake. From that point on, they might catch a glimpse of an enormous green monster shambling around in the small space; maybe he's trying to climb back up, or maybe he seems to be looking for something. Maybe he's got a little less self-control than all that, though-- maybe he's just smashing shit.

The noise prompts Riddick to smother a snicker. But he's not finding much up here to tie to, either, so he makes an attempt at kicking some ice free to make a wedge he can use. The sole of his boot makes a satisfying crack, but it take three more solid kicks to make anything useful of it.

The rope gets wedged in, and he holds the other end, just in case. "There. Give that a try. Might not hold you, but can't say I didn't try, right?"

Momoko flinched away from Don at his expression. "What?" she asked blankly, wondering if this was a fighter's (or animal's) instincts she was seeing. "What?!"
polyturtle: (this final jeopardy is hard)

As instantly as the look came, it was gone, replaced by confusion again. Quickly shaking his head, Don looked at Momoko, then behind her, then back at her.

"...Sorry." He looked sheepish. "I, uh...I thought there was something behind you. Must be from lack of sleep."

Please believe that.

"I really shouldn't have had all the coffee I had before this Arena, huh."

"I--" Momoko hesitated, utterly bewildered. She checked behind her, and then to the side and in front for good measure, and saw nothing. "I don't think caffeine lasts that long?"
polyturtle: (I'M TTLY MODEST)

[personal profile] polyturtle 2013-02-02 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah..." At this, Don looked sheepish. "Actually, the way I drink it before an Arena, it can last up to at least a week before I crash."
cowardfacinghappiness: Momoko looking confused. (Eh?)

[personal profile] cowardfacinghappiness 2013-02-02 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
"...How do you drink it?" Momoko asked, almost morbidly curious. She also moved slightly so that her back was to the all, because the way Don had looked past her was still unnerving even though he'd stopped.

"I basically have nothing but coffee, 48 hours before the Arena starts. Usually seven or eight pots the first day, then the same amount and some more the second." Don nodded. Closest thing to just injecting it into him, really. "Then the morning of I have one more pot."
cowardfacinghappiness: Momoko looking confused. (Eh?)

[personal profile] cowardfacinghappiness 2013-02-02 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Momoko stared. "And that works? It keeps you awake?" She thought for a moment, then asked, "And doesn't kill you?"
polyturtle: (i love the world and everyone in it...)

[personal profile] polyturtle 2013-02-02 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
"Hasn't in the past ten years." At this, Don can't help but smile. "I don't think it will do so any time soon. Turtles don't have to worry so much about water intoxication, after all."

She gave him a lop sided grin.

"You give me a boost up, I've gotten pretty good at scrambling to get into the nests..."

But she also understood the protest. It wasn't her mode of operation right now. But...it might become one.

"Oh. Well, I thought the caffeine would be more of a concern, actually," Momoko said uncertainly. "Particularly if it's making you, um, hallucinate?"
itsananimalthing: (sarcastic)

The rope jerks in its crevice, giving Riddick's end a little twitch, though not much more than that. It's a primitive little pulley system, but it's the best Riddick can manage with what he's got at hand. It holds... though just barely.

"Still there!" Bracing his feet, Riddick suggests, loudly enough to be heard, "C'mon, try climbin', we'll see if it holds!"
itsananimalthing: (serious)

[personal profile] itsananimalthing 2013-02-04 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Riddick is always paying attention. Except when he's asleep. And sometimes even then. So the second of confused non-green person definitely catches his attention. He even knows who the guy is, vaguely, having seen him in the Cornucopia.

Interesting.

He looks back down only to see the big guy again. It's a good thing he spoke to Draco before, and can put two and two together. "Huh. Must be some magic kinda thing."
cherrypie: (it will be a glorious groping.)

[personal profile] cherrypie 2013-02-06 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
She squinted into the light, before pointing to where the ice jutted up. They were harder to see with the glasses, but even just after a few days, her eyes were adjusting, and the dark scruff of the nests was visible.

"Do you see the dark spots over there?"
itsananimalthing: (annoyed)

[personal profile] itsananimalthing 2013-02-11 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
At least Riddick is expecting something of the sort, and he catches it so that only one loop of the rope actually smacks his face, instead of the whole bundle. "You're welcome," he calls back down sourly, though not without lingering interest. "Fucked if I offer to help a guy out again."

But maybe after this whole thing is over, he'll look the guy up. Seems like that conversation might be interesting.

"They took your glasses? That shit is just low."

She shook her head, looking over at him. Really, she sorta got why she was here, but what the hell fun would this guy be to watch.

"...is there any reason they pull us in here...uhh, I don't think I got your name, stranger."
cherrypie: (:) are you for real?)

[personal profile] cherrypie 2013-02-13 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
She snickered, shaking his hand.

"Bruce Banner, huh. Oh man, you must get a lot of bad jokes about that one."

...then again, maybe not everyone made bad jokes about comic book characters quite the way De did. On second thought, she was pretty sure enough did for it to get annoying.

And here she was, tactfully adding on.
cherrypie: (Hold on a minute)

[personal profile] cherrypie 2013-02-19 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
She would say that sounds familiar, but really, they're all her jokes, so she can't really talk.

"Let's." Might as well, maybe there was something in here. Last little bond she made hadn't turned out so bad.

"You run into anyone else around here?"
