ain't no party like a ranger party [open]

Who| Thorongil and anyone!
What| That great big open party log I promised! Thorongil is taking a different approach to this Arena, and that approach involves giving people free food.
Where| Around the arena -- generally in the forest area.
When| Late week 1, post-Bilbo and Sam )':
Warnings/Notes| Feel free to respond using the log prompt itself, but if you have another idea, feel free to throw it at me in a toplevel! Thorongil will be wandering around the Arena hunting for food, so he could stumble on conceivably anything. Ragnar, Anna, I'm looking at you two especially.

For many of you, this Arena will be one of the most traumatic things you've ever experienced.

For Thorongil, it's Tuesday.

Most nights, he camps with a fire. Reckless? Perhaps, if he were trying to win the Arena.

But that's not Thorongil's goal.

He hunts during the day and cooks what he catches at night: if the firelight doesn't draw in other Tributes, the smell will. It's been a few days. They're probably starting to get hungry.

Approach in the open, and he will greet you with a nod of his head. Try to sneak up on him, and he will hear you. "You'd better come out into the light," he will say, putting a hand on the long, sharp spear he's made for himself. "I know you're there."

"Right. You're right." And there was an odd feeling, one of wanting to see Nitou again. He'd felt it only a few times when he was on the road, months after he'd blown out of Tokyo and left everyone behind. Koyomi, he had thought of constantly. His other friends, he found his thoughts drawn to them on quiet nights when sleep didn't come easily. But Nitou only barged on in when home felt very far away and he was lost and confused and needed help. He had been so frequently exasperated by him lately that such thoughts had been far away. And here they were already.

"Not that I'm in a huge hurry to see him." He looks back to Thorongil with a half smile on his lips. "We still need to do our best, right? Our District's counting on us." That's only sort of for the benefit of the cameras. As terrible as these games were, if they had the benefit of making life easier for the poor Panem citizens that they represented, he'd stick it out and try to push one his district-mates to victory.

"I'd like to think we have a chance. You're already doing better than nearly everyone else, right?" Smiles are coming easier now. And it's easier to smile than say serious and dramatic things. He breathes in and quickly lets it out in a huff of a laugh... and in the process catches the scent of roasting rabbit again. His stomach gurgles in response.

"....uh. So are they good to eat yet?"

Think we're at a place where we can fade this?

Food is a pretty safe topic of conversation. Also? He is very hungry. He reaches out for the roasted rabbit and takes it, handling it gingerly. It is indeed still hot. Also, strange looking? He hasn't even had rabbit before. But it smells good. "Right, right..."

He manages to wait about ten seconds before his willpower gives out and he tries taking a bite out of it. And even though it's still too hot and he has to stifle a pained sound, he is going right on chewing that bite of rabbit meat. After the kind of time he has been having here, it's fantastic.
