Team ups

Who| Ian Gallagher, Blaine and open
What| Team up! Then anyone who wants to come hang out/be chased away/other shenanigans of week one (if you want to have a thread with them just jump in a new thread and the two of them will find you.)
Where| The jungle
When| About a day after Cornucopia
Warnings/Notes| None yet

If Ian wasn't sore and freezing from the downpour he had just been caught in he would have laughed at how badly he was doing in this arena. He hadn't thought it could go worse than the last where he had been poisoned and died within half an hour, but somehow it had.

He had managed to get nothing but a couple of rotten apples, which he had kept just in case, and an equally rotten piece of wood, which he had also kept, it could be a weapon, who said Gallagher's weren't resourceful?

He had thought that he wouldn't need the apples seeing all the fruit and animals around in the jungle. But trying some fruit had given him stomach cramps that had all but made him a sitting duck if anyone had found his hiding place, as it was he had had to fight off vines, and had luckily been able to climb a tree.

So the food was out. Two rotten apples and a piece of wood it was. Ian moved through jungle not staying still wondering if there was any end to it. A noise made him pause, and he lifted the piece of wood, ready.

Blaine, on the other hand, was doing so much better in this Arena than any other he had been in. Something about losing Kurt had kicked him into survival mode. He had originally gone into the Cornucopia with the hope of losing his life right in the start, but had come away with a backpack that he had crammed full of supplies and food instead.

He knew that made him a target though, so he was trying to stay on the move. He was working out a mental map of where the dangers had been so far when he saw movement up ahead and paused. Through the thick trees and plants is was hard to make out just who it was, but he got the vague shape down.

"Ian?" he asked, his voice low but still able to be heard. He hoped he wasn't wrong, and he held up the dart gun he had managed to get from his trip around the supplies just in case.

Blaine sighed in relief and then carefully crossed over to where Ian was. He smiled a bit when he saw his friend. "Hey," he said, pleased to see him. "Let's find some cover, okay? We can figure out what we're going to do then."

Blaine glanced up a bit and then nodded. "Yeah, I'll be okay," he said. "At least now I have someone to watch my back."

Then, after a moment, "Kurt's still missing," he added. Because verbally acknowledging it and looking a little heartbroken at it was a good show for the cameras. More than that, though, Ian was the only person who would understand what that meant.

Blaine nodded. He focused on climbing then. He felt better knowing that Ian was looking out for him. He kept moving up to get to a safe place. Once he was there, he focused on making sure that Ian was with him.

"I know. I could barely see anything. But... it meant no one could see me too." He grinned a bit, though it was still strained with a hint of emotion, and then pulled off the backpack. He set it on the branch between them.

"I got really lucky. Are you hungry?"

"That sucks," Blaine said as he opened his pack. "And not very fair. Why would they put rotten apples in with the good stuff?" He took out a potato and a can of tuna, as well as the drink that reminded him a lot of Gatorade. He had to hand the food to Ian in order to balance on the branch.

"Do you mind eating the potato raw? I don't think there's a way for us to cook it up here."

Blaine took a half and smiled a bit. "Well, at least that means they won't make us sick," he offered. He tried to help get the can open so that they could have some protein too.

"I have a tent too," he said. "It's small and will only really fit one person comfortably, but we've shared a sleeping bag before, right?" he suggested. "We'd have to find a good place to use it first..." He looked down towards the ground, frowning just a bit."

Blaine ate a bit of the tuna with his hands. It wasn't exactly clean, but it was food. Real food.

He handed it over with more than half of it left and then looked around as he cleaned his fingers with his mouth and shirt. "I wonder if we can get higher and take a look?"

Blaine felt relieved watching Ian eat, because he knew that his friend was going to have strength for whatever else the day tossed at them. He nodded a bit. "After we eat and get this stuff packed up again we can check it out."

Blaine packed everything up neatly again as he waited. When Ian was done he nodded and put it back on. "You want to go first? I'll spot you?"

"Probably not as well as I need to," he admitted after a moment, frowning a bit.

Blaine grinned a bit. "You're just better at all of the physical stuff," he admitted, though he didn't seem to mind being around someone who was better than him at something. It would probably have bothered him if they were comparing singing voices though, even if that kind of petty need to outshine others seemed pretty silly now.

He pushed up, moving carefully to get a better footing to climb up.

Blaine smiled a bit. "The most that I've learned is how to dance," he said. "If we have a dance themed Arena, I'm set."

"Yeah probably," Blaine agreed, chuckling just a bit. "At least I'd help you look good?"

Blaine looked over Ian's body, "You don't look too bad," he promised.

He was careful not to make that sound too flirtatious, especially since he knew it was possible that people were watching. He adopted that platonic tone he used when he complimented Tina or one of his other friends from home.

"I think we should be safe here," Blaine said after a moment. "Unless you want to go higher?"
mediumdrip: (most interesting kid)

[personal profile] mediumdrip 2013-12-23 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
Blaine chuckled a bit. "Okay, okay," he said, teasing a bit. "Lead the way."

Blaine moved after him, still keeping an eye on him. He felt better being in this place with Ian, even if he knew it wouldn't really save him in the end.
