have I been here so long, in a city of devils we live...
Who| Anna Morasca and Gaila of Orion
What| DEATH! And death-like symptoms, because we all have to die sometime, right?
Where| Desert Arena
When| Backdated to the end of Week 7
Warnings/Notes| Violence, blood, language, possible triggering content (mentions of rape) below the cut.
Seven weeks.
Over seven weeks in the desert heat, barely covered by her costume, and somehow Anna Morasca has managed to survive alone. Thanks to a lucky score at the cornucopia early on in her time, she's been able to stay semi-hydrated and well-fed throughout by using her supplies to hunt the local wildlife for food while using her tent and sleeping bag to fend off the cold nights and give her shade in the blistering sunlight.
Still, she's been burned intensely and it's only now beginning to darken her skin by three shades and she's thinking this could be skin cancer if she wasn't being revived at the end. With her recent shelter having been destroyed by the giant... sandworm thing... she's been slowly crossing the desert in search of a new place to camp out when she starts hearing things.
First it's howls. Then over a few hours it turns into voices she knows. First, Parker. Then, Eliot. And then, she hears Adam screaming out her name and she nearly loses it because what if he was brought in because the cuff wasn't enough of a message?!
"ADAM! ADAM!" She screams at the top of her lungs as she runs off in the direction it seems to be coming from but no matter where she goes, he's not there. Her voice is nearly gone and she gives up searching to preserve her sanity because how can she not see this coming? It's right in the gamemakers' playbook. Psychological torture 101.
But then it's approaching nightfall and she's not hearing things. No, she's seeing them and it's far worse than just the thought of Adam being in the arena. It's her worst nightmare playing out before her eyes. The figure is but a shadow in the sand and in seconds he's on her, pinning her body to the sand and no amount of thrashing or stabbing or swinging her staff will free her. She can feel those familiar hands between her thighs, and suddenly the hallucinations are making her feel like she's being raped all over again. Vulnerable, helpless, and weak for everyone in the Capitol to see.
It's right at the point of where she's about to get her head slammed against the ground when suddenly the shadow dissipates from her vision and the reality of her situation registers.
It's not real. It's not real, Anna.
She can hear her mother's voice in her head for a brief second and then she rolls over onto her hands and knees in the sand and chokes on a scream. She can't stop shaking and she's apparently been sobbing for so long that she's run out of physical tears to cry. It takes the better part of an hour for her to regain any semblance of composure but anyone watching can see that she's gone completely numb from the trauma.
Now she's nothing but a wanderer without a destination.
