Cuthbert was singing as he hunted, trying to keep the more immediate danger of dokidokis away rather than keep his own cover. He wasn't moving quickly, but he turned as he walked to try and keep an eye out for potential prey as well as any dangers that might come his way.

When he saw Callista out of the corner of his eye he risked the flesh eating animals by lowering his voice and body into the grass. Generally speaking Cuthbert didn't like to attack women, but he hadn't really been in the best headspace lately. If he was lucky she wouldn't see him until it was too late.

There was not good way to be silent and move when the grass and ground beneath him was sticky. So Cuthbert stayed still as long as he could, until (he hoped) she lost interest in him before getting up and running toward her as fast as he could manage. He really only had one shot at this and he was going to knock her down if he could help it.

On a whim he shouted, trying to seem menacing despite the fact that his short Magic Girl skirt was flapping freely as he ran.

Callista turned at the scream but her reflexes were so sluggish that she went down just as Cuthbert had planned. She's regret that weakness later, but for now it was just the way it was. She felt the air be knocked out of her as he back hit the ground. Despite how much she wanted to not fight and to not play the game, with her life on the line she desperately tried to get him off of her. She pushed against him and struggled underneath him, recovering just fast enough as the adrenaline hit her.
