Us wolves were right behind you [Closed]

Who| Bucky and Terezi
What| Bucky gets into trouble with wolves, then in the ensuing chaos of trouble caused by him using his powers Terezi is killed
Where| The forest
When| Beginning of week 4
Warnings/Notes| death

It was only a matter of time until this happened.

Bucky grits his teeth as he draws his sword, staring back at the wolves he could see and keeping an ear out for the one's he couldn't. He was surrounded and outnumbered, meaning this wasn't a fight he would win unless he went all out. Clearly his reluctance to do so meant that the Gamemaker's intended to push him towards it.

They'd found him as he crossed a small clearing, too far from the tree's to escape upwards; though he had tried still, only to find himself cut off whichever direction he ran. That meant his only choice if he wanted to survive and get back to his friends was to attack with everything he had, opening himself up to whatever sadistic punishment the Gamemaker's wanted to throw at him.

Bucky hopes it won't be lightning. Even without taking into account the fact it was almost impossible to avoid, the heavy metal prosthetic he wore would be a deadly conductor. One hit and he would probably be toast, literally.

In the first few weeks, Terezi had clued in very quickly that there was something going on in this ragtag group that she'd been inducted into. They were all trying to survive--that was what you did in these arenas--but she began to catch on that they were also trying to keep Bucky alive. Terezi herself didn't know the man very well, and she didn't really understand the why of it; but she figured that she could help. She didn't have any better aims for this round, after all.

It was while keeping watch in the trees that Terezi caught Bucky's scent, along with the wolves. It quickly became apparent that they were cornering him, and while he couldn't make it back to the trees, there was nothing stopping Terezi from rushing out to him. She swings and drops down to the ground without a moment's hesitation, a long somewhat-straight branch tucked tightly under her arm. It crosses her mind that she could check her foresight to keep tabs on the wolves, but with so many magical accidents, she decides to hold it in reserve for the moment. If she really needs to, she'll use it.

"Hey!" she shouts as she nears Bucky and the wolves, untucking her makeshift staff and brandishing it at the creatures. If she can split their attention between the two of them, there's a much better chance of making it through this. "Over here, you mangy furbeasts!"

At the very least, Terezi has managed to catch a few of the wolves' attention. Having moved away from the fight with Bucky, they circle and snap, as if looking for an opening. It's doubtful that she could run now, even if she wanted to.

When the first one lunges, Terezi lands a smack against the underside of the wolf's jaw, clapping its teeth back together and rattling its head. Two more snap from the other direction, but Terezi using the makeshift staff like a vault to leap out of the way. She spins as she lands, cracking a followup blow against one of the wolves' hunches.

"Don't tell me what to do!" she shouts back at Bucky. "I haven't spent this arena helping out just for you to die out here! I'm not leaving without you!"

I won't die. That's all well and good for him to say, but that's not what she saw. But actually saying that would probably prompt more of a detailed discussion than she was capable of providing at the moment. Maybe once these wolves were taken care of...

Speaking of wolves, One of them grabs her stick in its teeth, and the momentary tug-of-war that nearly earns her a shredded limb. Terezi yanks the stick back away from the wolf, turning just in time to sense another lunging at her. She tucks and rolls out of the way, coming back to her feet in a crouch, breathing hard.

Dumb wolves. She officially hates wolves.

Unfortunately, blunt weapons like sticks aren't as good at killing wolves as swords are, but it at least pulls some pressure away from Bucky until they can thin the pack a little.

The trees!

Terezi hears the shout above the clamor of the fight. For a moment, she almost reaches out to her own foresight to see what's going to come next, but stops herself. Wolves and falling trees... They don't need any more hazards added to this fight. Knowing their luck, they'd be struck down by a lightning storm--and Terezi wasn't too keen on being electrocuted again.

"Follow the tree line back towards camp!" she shouts back, getting out of the way of the first falling tree. If they got out of ranges of the trees, the Gamemakers might resort to something else to punish them with. But if they kept the forest to one side, they could always predict which direction the falling trees would come from without removing the hazard entirely.

Terezi makes her way after Bucky, dodging wolves and trees alike. She's likewise concerned with catching up to her human companion, but more-so to keep a watch on him. He has to make it back to the others, whatever the cost. That was what they had agreed on: Keep Bucky safe. That was the stipulation that she agreed to when Sam had brought her back to the group. They had to have an agreed upon goal.

She can tell that he's not really running as fast as he can, though. She's gaining ground on him and closing the gap between them, when she knows she shouldn't be. The thought of him hanging back because of her is a bit distressing, but it comes out more as annoyance when she shouts at him. "If you get yourself killed waiting up for me, I am going to die on purpose just so I can kick your ass as soon as we're both back in the Capitol."
