001 not seeing the forest because TREES

Who| Nux, his angst, and you!
What| What a lovely...arrival.
Where| The Village
When| Mid Week 2
Warnings/Notes| Updated if needed.

The Forest

"Trees!" See! He knows what they are now. Those. Those are trees. A lot of them.

Yeah. That's a lot of trees. Not that he's afraid of trees, or anything. It's just, you know, way more trees than people around here, and he's not used to that. He's used to odds that include, like...zero trees.

And a lot more people. "Where is everybody? Anybody?" Seriously, he can't be alone out here. He'll circle the edges of the forest, but unless he hears something in there that sounds like a person, yeah, he's not going in there!

Castle

It wasn't the Citadel but he kind of got the feeling Immortan Joe would approve of the place. It had that kind of homey vibe for the War Boy--stone and dark and not exactly, you know, cheerful. The only spooky part was the emptiness--he'd never been alone, like...really alone before and it was starting to get to him, gnawing on the back of his brain.

Nux will wander the castle's various rooms, until he finds the dungeon. Because right now all he's got as a weapon is some rope and a...he thinks it's a pot? Yeah. He's got to do better than that.

But knocking over that pile of metal? Probably not a great start.

"Oh, I'm sure you can!" She holds her hands up in a way that's meant to be non-threatening, not wanting to deal with upsetting him. "But against how many? What if one hundred men jumped out of the trees and ambushed you?" Not that that's even a remote possibility. But Lilah had learned that recklessness was a bad idea.

"You do understand the aim of this is to win, right? Can't see much chance of that happening if you're so eager to go to your death."

"I want to win too. And if I had any sense I'd leave you to it and let them jump out of the forest and get you." That doesn't mean she's necessarily going to, though. As much as she wants to win, she doesn't want to see others die for it.

Lilah blinks at him a couple of times, incredulous at just how literally he's taking this. There's a part of him that's tempted to play along, to see just what she can get out of him by pretending she did have some sort of command over the forest, but she knew she wouldn't have a leg to stand on if he demanded proof. Instead she just shakes her head, amused.

"I'm a dwarf, mate. We're far better with stone than trees."

She can't help but burst out laughing at the image. "Of course it doesn't, it's stone." She feels as though she's being a little unfair there, with the bitter cynicism that came with being casteless surfacer. "Actually, that's not completely true. The dwarves down in Orzammar have what they like to call 'stone sense'. They communicate it with it in a way, hear it sing, helps them find veins of lyrium." Which Lilah only cared about in so far as it provided a supply to the Carta. "They think they're all born of the Stone, that they have a connection with it. Nice, I suppose, if you like that sort of thing."

"I have to say, that's something I've never been asked before." She thinks for a moment, head cocked to one side. "Darkspawn, maybe. Or dragons. I'd tell them all to please go away so we can focus on closing the rifts without them interfering too. Or just the demons themselves, so I can tell them to just turn around and go right back to the Fade and not cause any more trouble. I'm not sure any of them would be good conversationalists, but it beats whatever a bunch of trees or rocks have to say."

"Maker, no! They'd burn me to a crisp if I tried to ride them." That does sound pretty awesome to her, though. If the Inquisition had dragon mounts she was sure they'd defeat Corypheus in no time at all. She can imagine just how made up Bull would be at riding a dragon into battle and smiles nostalgically, missing her team already.

"Even if they know a lot, I can't imagine they'd be fantastic conversationalists."
