The weather was beginning to feel warmer. Loki had survived a much longer time than the last disastrous arena and he felt strangely stronger, despite the fact that he was without his usual powers this time around. Mostly, he had kept to himself and out of the way of most dangers and while it had not been showy, it had kept him fairly safe and definitely alive. With regular supply drops, he'd eaten regularly and had warmth, even when he hadn't needed it. He'd borne the cold well and lost very few of his supplies.

He still had three knives on him. They had barely even been used.

As such, he was feeling fairly confident on this day and he ventured outside the cave that he was currently sheltering in. He was carrying his concealed blades and also had an empty bottle with him, intending to find some water. Most of the rest of his things he'd hidden beneath some rocks. He didn't intend to be out here for very long.

He had come upon the cave not long ago. He put down most of his stuff near a tree a few feet away, taking only what he knew that he'd need in case a fight arose. He was carrying a knife, and wearing warm clothing that had got ten sent to him by Clara in the early days of the arena. It was nice, a little, to think that someone was watching him and wanting him to be okay. He spotted him from where he was situated by a tree. His older (or younger, he wasn't sure) self.

This could be fun.

He twirled the knife around a finger and stepped out from behind it. "Fancy seeing you still alive. I would have thought your ego had gotten you killed by now."

Loki looked across toward the voice - familiar yet not - and he frowned.

"I could say the same for you, surely."

He'd only spoken briefly to the other Loki before so didn't know what their similarities or differences truly may be.

His presence made Loki very wary though. His hand was already poised at his side, ready to bring out one of his own knives in an instant.

"What? No. People here actually like me." Okay, most of them didn't. "Even some of the ones that hate you like me. I'm way more charming. More attractive, naturally." He shrugged. He was blowing smoke. And obviously.

He knew another of himself wouldn't buy it.

"I mean, I don't even like you." He spun the knife again.

He pursed his lips.

"I do not need people to like me in order to succeed," he made it sound as if he didn't even care, although they probably both knew he did - more than he ever let on.

His hand now closed on the hilt of his hunting knife. The other was being subtly menacing with the weapon, even if Loki thought he could easily bring him down.

"You actually do a bit," he answered. "If people start hating you...and not in the 'love to hate you' way, well, they'll stop giving you gifts here." He feels like he's being purposely aggressive. He wants this Loki to think that maybe, even if only briefly, he is a threat. That maybe he would make a mistake. He just wanted Loki to screw up.

He noticed his hand moving to the hunting knife. "Planning to kill me then, I guess, huh?"

"I have been showered with gifts this Arena so I do not think that will be a problem here." Granted, most had been from Jason, who was invested in the District 7 tributes as a whole and not just Loki himself.

"I want to kill you as much as you want to kill me... but that is the game here, is it not? One victor - and there are one too many of us here right now."

And with that he took a sudden swing at Loki with the blade, aiming toward his gut and his side.

"About as much as I want to kill you, eh?" he said. He tilted his head and laughed, stepping back to the side, moving away from Loki. "Well, then you're going to actually have to try. Even if we're not the same, I still think like you." At the very least, he hoped to pose some level of a challenge to the other Loki. He didn't want to let this come easily to him.

"But you are not me and you are not in my mind, nor can you read my thoughts," Loki pointed out, assuming that to be true. This other Loki was himself, yet not. They may have some things in common but he didn't think they could be that much alike. Not enough to know each other's every move.

Although he would like to think that could be an advantage, if he knew what this Loki may do next.

"Then I suppose I should be less half-hearted about it if I want to win over you."

There was some reluctance there. Something he didn't want exploited so he quashed it in his mind. He remained alert to any move Loki may make next.

"Not the same mind, but you're the me I was or will be." Hadn't figured that one out. "So it's less being in your mind and more...knowing it. Like you probably know me." He laughed.

"It's okay, I like the challenge." His approach is calmer than he even expected of himself. He considers a few different strategies. He doesn't really have to kill him, he thinks. Maybe just deal with him.

That would be something that he didn't think he'd expect. Start off hostile. He went at Loki with his knife.

At the same time, Loki also attempted another stab, which put him in range of the other Loki's blade. It drew blood and he scowled as he stumbled back. His hand went to the injury - not yet fatal and more of an annoyance. How did he let that happen? He had been so careful so far in this arena...

Suddenly frustrated at himself, Loki sprung forward again and tried to strike at Loki with his own sharp knife. As he neared him, he pulled out a second weapon - a smaller knife - and swung with that from the other side. He'd have to do some quick dodging to avoid both.
