Where| Edge of town/Center of town
When| The very beginning of Hellarena 2
Warnings/Notes| Nothing really?

Starkiller never told anyone his plan. There was less risk that way- if they knew what he was planning, then surely they would have cut his power off before he had the opportunity to do it. So it had been in the back of his mind, ever since he'd regained his powers for that brief amount of time. He hadn't had the opportunity to do it the first time, but that only gave him time to prepare. He'd seen forcefields that were similar to that of the Capitol's design. If he overloaded them with electricity, he had the feeling that it would cause them to shut down.

Was he sure? No. Was he hopeful? Yes.

For too long, he'd been at the Capitol's mercy- everyone had. He'd remained quiet, obedient and allowed them to dictate what he did and what he said. He bowed to a new master, after his previous one betrayed him. He didn't like it, but he knew better than to disobey them when they could do whatever they wanted with him, whenever they wanted. But it was time to show them that he wasn't theirs to control. He was tired of having a master; he'd experienced freedom and he wasn't going to give it up again.

And what better way, than in the middle of an arena? Yes, he hoped that he would be victorious. That the forcefields would fail and that everyone could escape. A part of him was doing it in the hope that he could rescue the people who weren't cut out for this, or the people that he had managed to befriend in his time in the Capitol. But it was more than that. It was a statement, one that would speak far louder than words ever could.

So the moment that the sirens began, he was on the move. He'd already scoped out a good spot in advanced, so it didn't take him very long at all to get there. It was a clearer spot, no trees or buildings nearby so that he had plenty of room and access to the forcefield. He wanted to make sure that he could maximize the amount of power directed at the forcefield. Once he was there, there wasn't any sort of hesitation. He was absolutely sure about what he was going to do, regardless of what happened.

Starkiller drew in a breath, held his hands out palm up at his sides and let the power flow through him. ith lightning crackled in his palms, running up and down his arms. Then, he thrust his hands forward, unleashing all of the power he could muster at the forcefield, letting out an almost feral growl as he did so. It didn't take long before he realized that it wasn't going to work, at least not in the way that he intended for it to. Just as soon as the electricity began flowing through the forcefield, he could feel his powers ebbing away. Before he knew it, the electricity was rebounding on him.

He could hardly muster a yell before it exploded and everything went dark. The explosion sent his body flying, only to hit the forcefield and then crash back downward, landing in the middle of the town. His body was charred and smoking a little, and anyone could see that he was dead. Needless to say, things hadn't ended the way he had hoped they would.

[[OOC: This can be a mingle sort of thing- anyone is free to witness the initial attack on the forcefield, as well as him crashing back down after hitting the forcefield. He's dead, so there's not really going to be any responses from him.]]

"I could have stopped him," Sabriel lied, looking down at the body. Compared to the Dead, Starkillers charred corpse was hardly the most horrifying sight she had laid eyes on, though it still made her want to cry, scream, and start throwing things.

"Clearly it was madness- and it didn't accomplish anything at all."

More lies, but Sabriel knew that what Starkiller had shown- this vulnerability of the gamemakers- would not be any use if they weren't careful.

"You may try, but you would not have succeeded," Gannicus countered darkly, realising the truth behind Sabriel's lie as he flicked a wary look at the girl beside him. As a man of multiple plans born of madness, Gannicus knew the futility of attempting to talk anyone out of them only too well.

A pause, and then Gannicus made a valiant attempt at the closest thing he knew to sympathy.

"Do not mourn your friend with sadness. Celebrate a warrior's passing with blood - and victory."

"I want-" Sabriel hesitated, "I'll ask him to explain himself when I see him again- perhaps even as a victor." She didn't sound particularly enthusiastic though.

"And thank you. I- I ought to move on," Sabriel said a little hastily. Other tributes might choose to investigate- and would probably be more willing to harm her than Gannicus.

"Perhaps," Gannicus agreed, sounding considerably more enthusiastic about the prospect than Sabriel. Winning the arena was something everyone should be aiming for, as far as he was concerned. It was their purpose. It was his purpose.

"Go, then." He pulled himself to his feet again, renewing his grip on his weapon as he pulled his focus tighter and cast his gaze around their immediate area. "My promise to you still stands firm."

His promise, to watch her back from afar. A promise of help in need, in exchange for the kindness she had shown him at a time of need. There's only a slight trace of awkwardness as he nods at her, adding:

"Keep yourself safe, if I can not."
