Who| Zelos and Perry (CLOSED)
What| Checking out the masks
Where| Second floor
When| Backdated to beginning of Week 3
Warnings/Notes| n/a

After that disaster a couple days ago with the entire third floor pretty much reduced to rubble, Zelos was even more determined than before to have a look at these masks that were somehow giving people their abilities back. In retrospect, it probably hadn't been very smart to taunt Gabriel, but hey, how was he supposed to know the guy was so powerful? He didn't exactly act like it.

It'd been a stroke of luck that he'd met someone who was willing to go with him, after the initial unpleasantries had been exchanged, because he sure as hell wasn't going to try out some potentially dangerous artifact without having backup. Last thing Zelos wanted was to get put in a vulnerable position and bam, slice of the neck, then dead.

"How well did you say you could defend yourself again?"

Perry found it funny that he's met more people this time around then last, and yet here he was, still alive. He'd been looking for death so much that he hadn't fully accepted that he was around now. And maybe that meant that someone wanted him still around.

True, this encounter had been different, the usual problem everyone had when you meet someone else here. But they had talked, the two of them. And when Zelos said he wanted to test out the masks, Perry had shrugged and agreed to it.

The masks have interested, but he's only getting to see them in use now. "Really well." He glanced over. "No matter what happens, you're not going to kill me." He wasn't discounting that he could be hurt. Just not killed.

"What do you think might happen?"

If he got killed from this little adventure... you know what, he wouldn't be too upset. At least he had been killed doing something potentially useful. But he'd rather not be killed by a district mate. That was just wrong, and sad. Very sad.

He wasn't going to die. "I wasn't prepared to most of the things here, but I'm good at adapting." That actually made him smile, just a little. They were on the right path, and Perry kept a watchful eye out. Just in case someone showed up before they got there.

"What about you, though? These things look dangerous, they have to hurt the person wearing it in some way, right?"

Catching the first aid kit, Perry opened it, quickly taking whatever was left in. Some bandages, antiseptic. A fairly standard kit, with a few things missing. It would be enough for some injuries. But if it was anything too bad, then nothing would help.

"So I'm here to both not die and play doctor?" Perry asked, though there was a small, teasing sort of smile on his face. He held the kit beneath one arm, and made sure he had the crowbar in the other.

"I want to let you know that when this is done, I'm getting a tape of this and we're watching it."

"Don't say I didn't warn you, though." He gave a soft sort of chuckle, one that surprised him. He'd been doing that more these days. Laughing when he didn't expect to, even though it was normal to do that. Human.

"No, wait, don't say that." He held up the hand that was holding the crowbar, if only because he wanted him to wait, and he didn't have any hands free. "They'll try to outdo that when we get back to the Capitol. Just because you said so."

He took a step back. "Now put the hideous mask on and let's do this."

Perry didn't know what he expected. Maybe some dramatic flash of light? A lightning bolt to come strike across the... ceiling? The wind being pushed out from the exact space where Zelos stood, as soon as he put on the mask? A whirlwind? Maybe him caught in a whirlwind?

He didn't really know, but he expected something more then just this. Which was nothing. Pretty much nothing.

"You look like an idiot wearing an ugly mask."
