He had never felt cold like this. Snow and ice had never been a detriment to him. But this -- the cold cut so deeply that it burned on the spots where the liquid had touched his scalp, his neck, his hands. He flung himself into a stairwell and crashed into the wall.

His screams were inhuman.

It took some time for the pain to become a dull, throbbing ache under his skin, and that was when he began to move again. Slowly making his way, wary whenever he stood on the threshold of another level. Fearful that the rain would start again.
