He wasn't starving. Not yet at least.

Water and food were hard to come by. It was anyone's guess what was and wasn't poisonous and he had to resort to his survival training from the Academy to actually get water. The water that surrounded the islands did nothing for his thirst and in fact, only made it worse.

During the day, he took shelter where he could, avoiding any tribute he could since his first encounter. Now though he was getting desperate for food. Desperate for anything that didn't immediately make him vomit it back up.

So that evening, when he spotted a blonde tribute in the distance he bristeled. He was in no condition for a fight. But maybe. Maybe they had food. His fingers danced on the hilt of his machete, and a smirk spread across his face.

Now or never. He wasn't going to play the game, but he wasn't going to go down without a fight or die withering away on this damned island.

Draco, on the other hand, was doing remarkably well. Admittedly, he'd always been good at hiding. Let them call him a coward - he was still alive, day in and day out, even after Tribute after Tribute's face was visible up on that screen. Sometimes three or four at a time.

But he had already figured out coconuts, and he had already been good at climbing. He didn't care if he got those stupid Capitol sponsor gifts. He didn't need them. Not as long as the other Tributes kept their distance from him, and he was more than able to just keep surviving. So let them say what they would about him.

To his credit, he most certainly did have food. Coconuts, more specifically. But he was getting very good at opening them and scraping out the meat with some agility. He cracked one against the large rock he'd collected his first day, pausing as he heard something to one side. Though he had been fairly certain he was alone, at least for a time.

He rose from his crouch, letting the coconut roll to one side, spilling its water out over the ground; Draco's hand closed around the rock, however, and his eyes scanned the edge of the clearing until he spotted someone in the trees.

So much for hiding.

He scrambled up to his feet, fingers clutching at the rock, holding it to his chest like some kind of shield; he was white-knuckling it in a way that his nails very much did not like, the odd one shattering near the ends. It just went to show how far he had fallen since his arrival, the nice suits and neat hairstyle replaced with a wild expression and pure desperation.

He dropped a little, lowering his centre of gravity slightly as if it would help. Other than that, Draco was frozen, entirely unsure of how to defend himself without his wand, especially against this apparent kid who was stalking him and really freaking him out.
