Who| Donatello, OPEN
What| Donatello searches for Mindy. Here's who and what he finds and thinks along the way.
Where| Throughout the building!
When| Week 2
Warnings/Notes| None, at the moment!
After Don and Max split up, Don went on his own.
He knew what his objective was - to find Mindy. He knew that Mindy was more than capable of defending herself, but he wanted to be nearby if need be. Plus, he food, and weapons...and now had a bo. His weapon of choice. It was old and probably would shatter on impact, but it was something that reminded him of him. Keep him grounded.
Using his map, he made his way throughout the floors. He avoided elevators when he could, instead lockpicking what exits and stairways he could find. Quite a few of them had not been forced open, which meant people hadn't found them or hadn't been able to get them open. Well, he did. Now, perhaps, once he found Mindy, he could make traps. After all, there were plenty of items to use, and he had that metal wire--
At this, he stopped. Huh.
It was the first time in a while he'd been thinking about doing any kind of tinkering. Much less lay traps. It was...nice. Felt good.
Maybe that bo really was helping him.

Not everyone had a buddy, and Mindy was more than used to being alone now that she knew that was the way it had to be.
For now, Donatello would see her sprinting across the halls fast: she was not a girl to linger if she could help it.

"Mindy!!" He quickly leaped into action, running after her. "Wait up!"
no subject
"Hey. Shit Don, I thought I was gonna have to take you on! What's up?"
no subject
"Not much," he replied, looking around. "Getting a feel of the place. Also wanted to touch base with you, make sure you had supplies and food and such."
He knew he probably wouldn't need to be by her side, as he was with Momoko and, to the extent she had needed it, Ariadne. Still, it never hurt to make sure an ally was all right.
"And also, figure out a place to set up a meeting camp, a safe spot. Did you get a Sponsor map, by any chance?"
no subject
Although she was wondering about exactly WHY this place was more accommodating this time around. Something had to be up, that was how reality shows WORKED. There was always a twist.
"Have friends with the map, but I memorized it anyway. Kinda have to. I don't know it by heart, but I can work it out at least."
There was blood on her, by the way. Not hers.

She didn't look particularly pleased about that either.

Given how long he'd been in the Arena, he generally recognized - or at least somewhat knew - the large majority of the people in the Arena. The newer people, he was a bit fuzzier on, but otherwise, he knew the faces of the veterans.

Didn't want to get to know him. It made sense. It was a risk to get close to people in this place. His memories of Ariadne, Lottie, Tony, Shepard...them and others. It was a bad idea.
Which was why he was getting to know Mindy, among others.
What the shell was wrong with him? Did he just...never learn? But on the other hand, how well had he done trying to be alone?...Not well. Not at all.no subject
It was more of a thing of what good would it do? Loathe as she was to admit it, Azula had a point about vendettas: they were useless to anyone, better to just do what you had to, keep moving.
Granted, it sucked killing someone she didn't even know. This place was already starting to make it easy for her to rationalize it to begin with.
"You ice anyone yet?"

Mainly because he knew. Eventually, the Capitol would make him fight. Make someone else fight him, if he refused.
no subject
He was understanding there was no choice too.
no subject
He learned that lesson about sloppiness. Eventually. After getting stabbed in the shell. It was complicated
"...same to you. So, what do you think about a safe place? In case we get new supplies from the Sponsors, or otherwise. We can put them in a place that's not readily accessible to others."
no subject
"I'm game to that. We'll just have to make sure no one else sees it, and only take what we need. The good thing about this place so far, its not as dangerous as the last one. Yet."
no subject
Needless to say, as much as Don wanted to be optimistic...
"It'll have to be a place away from here. Away from the gift shops and obvious food areas." At this, Don brought out his back, showing the metal wire. "There's electricity here, so I can set a trap with this. A trap we'd be able to maneuver but on one else would know how to."
no subject
See, this was why you always needed a techie on your team. Fuck that lone shit until the very end, teammates had way of really surprising you.
"I can think of a few exhibits, maybe, depending on what they throw at us next. Good plan! How would it work?"
no subject
He slid his finger on the wire.
"It would be pretty easy. Trip the wires, become a grounder and get electrocuted."
no subject
Mindy nodded. "I can help you set up. Da-I mean, my mentor was good at this stuff, but I'm a fast learner. This shouldn't be too hard to figure."
no subject
At this, he brought out a few of the knives he had gotten from the exhibit.
"Combo this with exposed wires, and improvised clamps...the only way to stop the flow of energy would be to undo the clamps in the battery. But you have to know where the battery is." At this, Don eyed a nearby fountain. "I think I know where we can do this."
no subject
She looked over at the fountain. "Oh. Yeah, that might do it."

Not good. Bringing family into this place, like that, because Ellie was popular or rebellious. For Don, he wasn't sure how he'd react to his own family arriving in Panem.
He managed to nod.
"...all right. That works. If you can get the car battery, when should we meet back here?"
no subject
"Let me thing. I'll give it a day. Wanna make sure I'm not followed or anything."

Moving into the planetarium to search for materials, the Doctor found his gaze falling upon Don at a distance, and he stopped. For only a moment, familiar hate boiled under the surface of his calm demeanour, and then it was gone. It wasn't Donatello who had ended his son's life permanently, after all. His son had taken care of that, himself.
After a series of deep breaths, Sigma finally approached the Tribute. "Evening," he said in what could have been a joke.
no subject
At least he was mostly sure of it.
"Hey." He carefully slid down from where he was, to the floor. "Guess we've got similar ideas to come over here."
no subject
"Yeah?" He starts awkwardly. He looks to the parts laying about them and asks, "You know your way around a machine, as well?"

Sigma allowed Don to propose their first project. "Well. What is it you had in mind?"

Noting how amazingly awkward he is being, to just come in and begin helping Don as if they were friends, he stops as quickly as he started.
"Ah, wait. You... you do not mind if I help out, right?"
no subject
Just in case, though, Don does look around. Not at Sigma, but to make sure again, that others weren't coming. It was awkward (and admittedly, interesting, seeing him work the wires and insulation), but there was no point in increasing it, in Don's mind.
