Who| Alex Rider and OPEN
What| Alex gets caught in a dust storm
Where| Desert Arena
When| Week 4
Warnings/Notes| n/a
It was the wind picking up slightly that warned Alex. Looking over his shoulder, he swore under his breath then yanked up the makeshift scarf that hung around his neck. A quick glance around revealed no means of shelter nearby, which meant he'd have to use his tent for protection. Slipping his pack from his shoulders, Alex hurried to erect the one-man structure before the dust reached him. By this point, he mostly had the whole tent pitching process down rather well, but having a wall of dust quickly moving his direction was always daunting. After snapping the last clips into place, Alex chucked his pack inside and made one last check that everything was tied down securely.

It wasn't like she didn't have anything to trade if it came down to it. Her crossbow had scored her quite a bit of meat in this desert, and she was capable enough with the scythe to protect herself if need be. But she doubted anyone around, this late in the game, would appreciate the intrusion.

There were too many people gone. People she'd never met, mostly - and she had been glad enough to avoid tents, if it meant getting to see that sky. But right now the dust storm was coming in, and she was moving to knock on the tent.

"Quick, get in. There's not much room, but we'll both fit if we squeeze."
And if she tried to shank him, well, he was prepared for the possibility.

"Thanks," she murmured, sliding in. "I. Um. i'm not really used to sand storms, but...." But she's pretty sure that was going to strip her flesh clear of if it didn't just bury her.

"I think most of us aren't," he stated. "We don't exactly get them in London, that is certain."

"At least we're out of the sand, here..."
