Report In!

WHO| AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!
WHAT| Taking Stock and squabbling
WHEN| Fourth week.
WHERE| Their Hideout!
WARNINGS| Swearing, Tony Stark

If there was one good thing about this place, it was that there was plenty of material around to survive with if you knew what you were doing. Which... most of the people here did. Even without entering into the areas that the Gamemakers had set up for what amounted to food fights on steroids, there were roots and things that one could eat. Ornamental plants gone to seed made for fairly good eatting if you weren't picky.

Tony hadn't bitched nearly as much as Phil had thought he would.

They were pretty set on the food situation, it was weapons and getting out of here that he hoped they'd gotten some movement on. For once, he had then all here, he might as well try and get a debrief. Or about as close to one as he was going to get anyway.

"Report in people. And yes Stark, that means you too."

"Food." Peggy grimaced and set down the haul of oranges they had picked. Her arms were aching from the distance she had carried them, but God knew she wasn't about to let Steve carry them all. "I'd say we send two people back into that particular area once these run out. Armed, preferably. I could feel eyes on me the entire time I was there. And not just in the normal sense."

She wasn't about to mention how she had tossed an orange at the surrounding wall or the bruise her hair hid when it came hurtling back and slammed into her forehead. Not even Steve knew about that and she wasn't about to let on about it.
nightlightheart: (i want one)

"Thanks," Tony's famished, actually, and just sort of swipes an orange, unprompted. He hasn't eaten since yesterday, he thinks. He forgets sometimes. Even here. And let's face it, Tony's idea of good manners are warning people when he's about to take something he wants.

He hasn't really has the pleasure of meeting this one though. Read about her name in a file once. Lookin good for a chick whose supposed to be old enough to be his grandmother.
nightlightheart: (what the hell is this!?)

[personal profile] nightlightheart 2013-04-13 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"What's that supposed to mean?! That Stark. You can't give the nice lady three minutes of an illusion that I'm a decent guy?" he's teasing of course. Mostly. He knows what Coulson's referring to.

He's referring to the fact that he's Howard's son.

If Tony can say he knows anything at all about Peggy Carter, it was that she had somehow been involved in the super soldier serum project just as his father had been.

"If you eat all of them, you can go get the next bunch by yourself." Stark men. She was well aware Anthony wasn't Howard, that didn't mean there weren't any similarities. That right there? That was certainly one of them. At least he thanked her. That was certainly something.

"Did you or Dr. Banner find anything useful?"
nightlightheart: (yeah - whatcha got)

[personal profile] nightlightheart 2013-04-27 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
"Useful-ish," Tony shrugs with a bit of a grin as he starts to peel his freshly acquired orange with no sign of remorse. "A lot more to go. But it's a start. You know you're a lot more..." he flails his hands and sort of just gestures at all of her, "than I was expecting."

He never really explains to her what that even means. But it's a compliment in Tony Stark speak.

"Miss those Nazis yet?"

[personal profile] onthedot 2013-04-27 03:29 am (UTC)(link)

"Of course I am." Damn right she is. Peggy wasn't going to even be a bit humble about that compliment. She's too bloody proud of how far she's come and what she does and how she handles things to be embarrassed when others point it out. It took too long for other people to notice in the first place.

"No." Really Tony? Did she miss the Nazis? Peggy rolls her eyes and hops onto a broken counter, scanning the room for anything out of place.

nightlightheart: (i am so amusing)

[personal profile] nightlightheart 2013-04-27 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
He smirks at her answer. Impressed. Oh god was his father impressed with her too? Eww no he doesn't even want to think about that. No. Abort that line of thought. No.

"Eh, get back to me in a month or two," he's only mostly teasing. Nazi's hadn't been so technologically advanced. If he had the option, he thinks he'd rather deal with them over the crazy bitches here. He does follow her lead and relax a bit now. Leans against what's left of a nearby wall and nibbles on a slice of his orange. "How long have you been here, anyway? Not long. I don't remember you back in the Capitol."

Wise, Tony. Wise. Peggy knew just how impressed Howard was about her. Do you want to know how close she was to being your mother, Tony? These are things you have to think about.

"I arrived and they sent me right into the line of fire. I wasn't given much room to acclimate." She wasn't given time enough to truly understand what was going on either. She was damn lucky to still be alive at this point. She wasn't going to pretend to be ungrateful about Steve finding her so fast. This could have been more of a nightmare than it already was. "These people aren't much different, I'll grant you that."

nightlightheart: (yeah no i don't think so)

[personal profile] nightlightheart 2013-04-30 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, a bunch of real charmers," Tony adds. Its hard not to wonder if she ever will see the outside of the arena. This is Tony's fifth time inside, and there are only a few others who have been around just as long. But not all. Not even remotely all. He has seen people come and go from this place. Arrive one minute and die the next. And still, he keeps waking back up. Playing this game. And right now, standing here eating an orange a woman from the 1940s just picked, he still doesn't know what he wants for the others. If they die here - which he knows is far more likely than it isn't - does he want them to wake up with him? To stay here in hell and keep playing the devils game? Or, for them to just stay gone and eventually fade into the false memories of never being here. So he can just go back to pretending that

Thor had been here once. So briefly Tony'd only gotten a glimpse. His brother had come too. Ass hat had literally stabbed him in the back on a sandy beach and, well, Tony hasn't seen him since. They were just flickers. Snapshots. He doubts anyone in the Capitol even remembers there name, past Arena highlight clips.

Will everyone else in this room be too? Does he even mention the possibility of seeing the outside of this place? That it's possible? Does he want to get her hops up - HIS hopes up?

You know what? Scratch that thought. They're busting out of this joint. There is no winning this game, even if you don't happen to die. So they're not going to play anymore.

That's the plan anyway.

"Food isn't bad though." He just shrugs.

"I do hope you mean out there." Peggy takes to peeling an orange and gestures with it loosely at the back wall of the building they're in. "Because the food in here leaves something to be desired."

Grass and fruit, now. Before what were they eating? Peggy doesn't like thinking about how loose her dress was becoming or what might have been in the water she had been forcing herself to drink so at the very least she stayed somewhat hydrated.

She's been studying him since she first saw him, watching him move and talk and work and interact and - "You remind me an awful lot of Maria."
nightlightheart: (yeah no i don't think so)

[personal profile] nightlightheart 2013-05-01 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
He does mean that, but he's to thrown off by her other comment to even say so.

The face he makes is priceless.

Maria? He reminds her of Maria? He doesn't exactly hear that very often and the reaction isn't the usual gut punching no he gets when people compare him to his father. "You knew her?"

[personal profile] onthedot 2013-05-01 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
"I did, yes. Your father wasn't the only one interested in the cause. She worked in headquarters."

Peggy eyed Coulson curiously when he came near, no doubt wanting to know what tripped up Tony's tongue. From what she knew, which was honestly too little for her tastes, Coulson felt some kind of responsibility for the group, in ways Steve didn't.

"Judging by your response she never told you that, did she?"
from_a_distance: (oh really?)

[personal profile] from_a_distance 2013-04-13 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"Nice haul," Clint said, looking it over and snagging one for himself. "Human eyes or other kind of eyes?"
pursuitofcappiness: (wooo tech stuff)

[personal profile] pursuitofcappiness 2013-04-14 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
"Other kind," Steve replied. "But it doesn't matter, there's plenty of both."
onthedot: (03 - Oh Good Lord)

[personal profile] onthedot 2013-04-14 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
"I'd say I'm slightly more concerned by what these game creators might consider an obstacle. A feral animal could be just as problematic when unarmed as another player."

Peggy set down the fruit with a sigh. "Not that I'm making light of the situation as is."

"Last arena didn't have much for wildlife. Didn't need it," Clint confirmed with a nod, taking his time with peeling his orange. "But I get the feeling they don't wanna give us the same thing twice."
onthedot: (17 - oh come on now)

She arched a brow. "That wouldn't be terribly entertaining, now would it?"

It should possibly say something about how she is adapting to this place that she can make fun like she is, but she honestly wasn't in the mood to press herself about it. For now she was safe where she was. As safe as she could possibly be and if they were being watched, and surely they were, then it was far less entertaining to act nonplussed than terrified.
