Report In!
WHO| AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!
WHAT| Taking Stock and squabbling
WHEN| Fourth week.
WHERE| Their Hideout!
WARNINGS| Swearing, Tony Stark
If there was one good thing about this place, it was that there was plenty of material around to survive with if you knew what you were doing. Which... most of the people here did. Even without entering into the areas that the Gamemakers had set up for what amounted to food fights on steroids, there were roots and things that one could eat. Ornamental plants gone to seed made for fairly good eatting if you weren't picky.
Tony hadn't bitched nearly as much as Phil had thought he would.
They were pretty set on the food situation, it was weapons and getting out of here that he hoped they'd gotten some movement on. For once, he had then all here, he might as well try and get a debrief. Or about as close to one as he was going to get anyway.
"Report in people. And yes Stark, that means you too."

She wasn't about to mention how she had tossed an orange at the surrounding wall or the bruise her hair hid when it came hurtling back and slammed into her forehead. Not even Steve knew about that and she wasn't about to let on about it.

He hasn't really has the pleasure of meeting this one though. Read about her name in a file once. Lookin good for a chick whose supposed to be old enough to be his grandmother.

"Peggy Carter may I introduce Tony Stark, and yes he's that Stark."
no subject
He's referring to the fact that he's Howard's son.
If Tony can say he knows anything at all about Peggy Carter, it was that she had somehow been involved in the super soldier serum project just as his father had been.

"Did you or Dr. Banner find anything useful?"
no subject
He never really explains to her what that even means. But it's a compliment in Tony Stark speak.
"Miss those Nazis yet?"
no subject
"Of course I am." Damn right she is. Peggy wasn't going to even be a bit humble about that compliment. She's too bloody proud of how far she's come and what she does and how she handles things to be embarrassed when others point it out. It took too long for other people to notice in the first place.
"No." Really Tony? Did she miss the Nazis? Peggy rolls her eyes and hops onto a broken counter, scanning the room for anything out of place.

"Eh, get back to me in a month or two," he's only mostly teasing. Nazi's hadn't been so technologically advanced. If he had the option, he thinks he'd rather deal with them over the crazy bitches here. He does follow her lead and relax a bit now. Leans against what's left of a nearby wall and nibbles on a slice of his orange. "How long have you been here, anyway? Not long. I don't remember you back in the Capitol."
no subject
Wise, Tony. Wise. Peggy knew just how impressed Howard was about her. Do you want to know how close she was to being your mother, Tony? These are things you have to think about.
"I arrived and they sent me right into the line of fire. I wasn't given much room to acclimate." She wasn't given time enough to truly understand what was going on either. She was damn lucky to still be alive at this point. She wasn't going to pretend to be ungrateful about Steve finding her so fast. This could have been more of a nightmare than it already was. "These people aren't much different, I'll grant you that."

Thor had been here once. So briefly Tony'd only gotten a glimpse. His brother had come too. Ass hat had literally stabbed him in the back on a sandy beach and, well, Tony hasn't seen him since. They were just flickers. Snapshots. He doubts anyone in the Capitol even remembers there name, past Arena highlight clips.
Will everyone else in this room be too? Does he even mention the possibility of seeing the outside of this place? That it's possible? Does he want to get her hops up - HIS hopes up?
You know what? Scratch that thought. They're busting out of this joint. There is no winning this game, even if you don't happen to die. So they're not going to play anymore.
That's the plan anyway.
"Food isn't bad though." He just shrugs.

Grass and fruit, now. Before what were they eating? Peggy doesn't like thinking about how loose her dress was becoming or what might have been in the water she had been forcing herself to drink so at the very least she stayed somewhat hydrated.
She's been studying him since she first saw him, watching him move and talk and work and interact and - "You remind me an awful lot of Maria."
no subject
The face he makes is priceless.
Maria? He reminds her of Maria? He doesn't exactly hear that very often and the reaction isn't the usual gut punching no he gets when people compare him to his father. "You knew her?"
no subject
He hoped Stark stayed mature...and that Peggy read the obvious signals and tread carefully.
Just in case...he wandered over to the general area where they'd been interacting. He didn't expect it to come to blows, but this was no time for a knockdown drag out verbal fight.
The food was actually pretty good here, he'd seen video of the last arena. Puffin flambe with half fertilized eggs was not his idea of fun.

Peggy eyed Coulson curiously when he came near, no doubt wanting to know what tripped up Tony's tongue. From what she knew, which was honestly too little for her tastes, Coulson felt some kind of responsibility for the group, in ways Steve didn't.
"Judging by your response she never told you that, did she?"

Peggy set down the fruit with a sigh. "Not that I'm making light of the situation as is."

It should possibly say something about how she is adapting to this place that she can make fun like she is, but she honestly wasn't in the mood to press herself about it. For now she was safe where she was. As safe as she could possibly be and if they were being watched, and surely they were, then it was far less entertaining to act nonplussed than terrified.
