[Waking up is as frightening an experience as it had been finding himself in Panem in the first place. The crushing disappointment upon waking and realizing that, indeed, this isn't a nightmare is palpable--and so too is the sudden realization that Blaine is nowhere to be found.

It's late in the evening, and Kurt is alone and terrified. He considers hiding and waiting for Blaine to appear again, but that feels too much like waiting to die. So he gets up and stretches his legs a little, moving around while still staying close to the spot where he'd fallen asleep.

He's hyper-aware of every sound and movement around him, so a sudden nearby beeping has him jumping out of his skin. What looks like a small parachute is descending a few yards away, and he remembers what he was told about supplies-- Quickly he runs out to retrieve it, and is surprised to see his name on.

Inside is some food, and he realizes quite suddenly just how hungry he is. It takes a lot of willpower not to scarf it all down at once, and he sits as far away from the marsh as he can (it smells horrible) to eat some of it.

He's alone, scared and completely unarmed.]

[That Night. Kurt and Blaine]

[Shortly after bringing Diana to Kurt, Blaine sponsor gifts had arrived. There was a sleeping bag and some water and food that he split between everyone.

Then it was night and he was freezing. With Diana there he didn't have to worry so much about watch, and let her take the first one. Then he and Kurt could be on their own for a bit. He offered to share the bag with Kurt, which meant they were pressed close together in a tight bag. It was so nice how easily his arms fit around Kurt's body.]


Are you comfortable enough? [He shifts a bit, trying to make sure he's not lying on Kurt's arm or anything.]

[Kurt had given Blaine an earful when he'd returned, but his anger had been short-lived. More than anything he just feels exhausted-- Exhausted enough, in fact, to agree to sharing a sleeping bag with his ex-boyfriend. Awkwardness just isn't a concern right now, not with their lives on the line.

Well, that's what he told himself anyway.]

As comfortable as I can be squeezed into a sleeping bag on the ground. [His eyes are closed as he mumbles and determinedly ignores how natural it feels to be lying in Blaine's arms.] Don't get any ideas, by the way.

I wasn't! [Except that he really mind have been...]

What day was it when you came here? What's the last thing from home you remember? [He knows he should let Kurt sleep, but he can't help but be curious.]

[showbizpanache]

Hm?

[Kurt had already started dozing off, but Blaine apparently wants to chat. He sighs a bit but gives in.]

Mm-- After Mr. Schue's botched wedding. [Suddenly he stiffens in Blaine's arms. Blaine's from earlier than he is, isn't he? So that means he doesn't know that they--]

[mediumdrip]

Oh right... And I'm from Christmas. [With everything that happened today, Blaine had forgotten they had talked about this before.]

What happened? Why was the wedding botched? [He's trying to pretend he doesn't notice the way that Kurt stiffened, thinking it has to be because Kurt is uncomfortable being close to him. He thinks changing the subject will relax him]

I guess Ms. Pillsbury wasn't feeling it. She left Mr. Schue at the altar. It was quite a mess, as you might imagine.

[He tries to relax again, but he's wide awake now, wrestling with the idea of telling Blaine about their hookup or letting his lapse in judgment go unknown. The latter seems like a much better idea right now.

Though he can still feel Blaine's hands on him from that night.]

I hope they're both okay...

[Blaine says thoughtfully, frowning at the idea.]

I guess that ruined everyone's Valentine's Day.

[showbizpanache]

Not really. They still had the reception afterward. It was fun.

[He closes his eyes again, trying to get sleepy.]

[mediumdrip]

There was still a party? Even after Mr. Schue... [But then again that sounds like their teacher. He probably had told all of them to enjoy being together again and encouraged them to sing on stage.]

I guess I have a party to look forward to then. If we ever get back home...

That you do. And now it's time to sleep. Good night, Blaine.

[He doesn't want to talk about this anymore.]

Good night, Kurt...

[Blaine really can't sleep though, not with Kurt so close to him. He shifts in the bag a bit, worried that having his body pressed against Kurt will provide too much of a distraction. It's dangerous for him to start thinking the thoughts that Kurt told him not too.

And not just because he'll have to deal with Kurt being angry at him.]

[It's pretty hard for Kurt to sleep, too, because the ground is just that--hard. Very hard. Kind of muddy too, and he can smell the swamp, and Blaine keeps squirming behind him and he really wish he'd stop doing that.

What was that about hard things?]

Blaine. Stop squirming around. [He sounds sleepy but stressed.]

[mediumdrip]

Sorry. [Blaine mutters as he forces himself to still.]

[showbizpanache]

[He closes his eyes and tries to sleep again, but it's so stuffy in the sleeping bag and his back hurts and ugh this sucks. A deep breath, then he tries to hold still and pretend he's in bed and that his ex-boyfriend isn't currently pressing up against him from behind.

Right.]

[mediumdrip]

[Blaine's arm ends up falling asleep a bit in the angle he has it in.]

Kurt? [He asks in a really, really small voice. If Kurt is already asleep he doesn't want to wake him.]

[showbizpanache]

Go to sleep, Blaine.

[He turns his head a little, and oh hey Blaine's face is close. Wow.]

[mediumdrip]

I'm trying... But... my arm.

[A pause] Do you mind if I... [He moves his arm around Kurt a bit, keeping it up a bit so that it's not exactly wrapped around Kurt, but the intent is pretty clear. He doesn't let it settle without permission though.]

[showbizpanache]

Can you what?

[He's pretty sure he knows what. Also Blaine's face is awfully close to his neck right now. Kurt can't help but notice how warm his breath is on it. It makes him shiver a little.]

Blaine...

[mediumdrip]

Can I put my arm here? [He asks as he puts his arm around Kurt.]

[showbizpanache]

Yeah. If that's more comfortable.

[mediumdrip]

Of course it is. [Blaine's arm becomes more solid in its grip as he moves a little closer to Kurt. He looks up at Kurt's face, which is even closer now.]

Holding you always is... [He says without even thinking about it. His voice is low enough that he could even pretend he didn't say it.]

[showbizpanache]

[His stomach flops a little at that.]

Blaine... This doesn't change anything, okay? [There's very little conviction in those words, though. Just like at the wedding.]

[mediumdrip]

I know... [Blaine says softly. Unlike the wedding, he doesn't have the knowledge of Kurt pulling him into a hotel room to fuel his conviction that they were meant to be.]

[showbizpanache]

Shh. Just try to sleep.

[And he's gonna close his eyes and do just that. It takes a while, but Blaine's arms are warm and he's so exhausted that his body finally lets him calm down enough to sleep. It isn't very deep sleep; more like a light doze--but his chest rises and falls evenly as he rests, and he's still vaguely aware of Blaine's warm and firmness behind him.]

[As always, Blaine just seems to settle perfectly behind Kurt. He moves closer, so that his chest is pressed into Kurt's back. His mouth ends up right at Kurt's neck. In his half-dozing state he responds to feeling Kurt's skin so close to his lips and kisses at the warm lightly.

He mouths the words 'I love you' against Kurt's neck, unable to say them aloud.]
