Eponine clutches the spear Eva gives her almost without realising she's holding on at all. Instead, she turns her face against Eva's chest, sobbing into the woman's t-shirt. She can't imagine what Eva is doing in the arena - how she is there. Oh! But how glad Eponine is to see her. Her whole body trembles from the pain; she shrieks as Eva lifts her.
