Once Karkat is sure that the girl was dead, he loosens the garrote and lowers her to lie on the ground. He then quickly and methodically begins to strip her body of anything that looks useful, ignoring her clothing as the idea of dealing with a naked alien corpse makes him feel kind of gross.

She was pretty young. At least a sweep younger than him, maybe two.

By the end of it, he's richer by a roll of padded and zippered fabric, some chemically-tipped incineration splinters, and food. Not bad.

He closes her eyelids and leaves her body to lie in the street.
