The Signless nods, a little too eagerly. It's just so strange and exciting for him to hear cooperative sentiments from a troll he hasn't had to browbeat with logical arguments first. You'd never hear a blueblood say 'we're both trolls'.

He's certain the boy's a lowblood, too. He talks like one and he acts like one, though Signless is too polite to ask him and anyway it shouldn't matter in theory. But the idea that a lowblood, already so vulnerable and marked for death, is helping another lowblood who's consciously doing everything that could get them both killed back on Alternia? Signless likes it, even if the way Karkat's going about it is abrasive. He can't really be blamed.

"We're both trolls, and it's better to be in a group in a place you don't know. I've been in other areas." The implication is obvious. He knows where to get more oranges. He might know hazards that aren't immediately obvious (he thinks back to the piranhas, devouring that poor human male, and involuntarily winces).
