He didn't notice it at first until they had started to slow down, going from a trot into a dragging walk. The other man started to sag against him more and more, and for a moment, Daniel had to wonder if maybe the Capitol had done more than enlarge the rats or give them ungodly amounts of aggression. What if they had somehow added venom to the mix? Was this Tribute poisoned?
Daniel darted a glance at the side of his face, but he couldn't tell for sure. He seemed tired, but determined, eyes focused ahead as they made their way down the street. The castle came up, the crumbling remains of a monument to a billion dollar cooperation that, like a lot of things, went belly up eventually. It was as safe a place as any.
Provided they didn't disturb anymore of the Capitol's pets. Daniel moved stiffly off the wall, and helped the other man to sit down.
"Think so too. You hurt anywhere else? Poisoned?" Daniel asked, clearly worried. Or, and he was desperately hoping for this, something else less pressing or fatal, like exhaustion. At least there was more of a chance of dealing with something like that. If he was poisoned or infected, he didn't know how much he could help him.
