The fact that they didn't find themselves with dozens of teeth sinking into their legs was something he was going to take as a good sign. Daniel's skin crawled all over at just the expectation. It might actually be worse that way. Any moment now, he expected teeth or claws, and when that didn't happen that very second, his heart kept on racing, any second now, this time for sure. Daniel was staring to breath hard with the rising dread.
"Both," Daniel croaked out. A little of column A, and a little of column B, Daniel wanted to say, or he suspected there wasn't much of a distinction in the first place, but that was far too many words to force out right now. He hurried, and silently crossed his fingers that the pack after them wouldn't follow them into the next area. As he saw it, their options were extremely limited. Probably what the other Tribute didn't want to hear. "Run. Or fight-"
He cut off. One of the rats-mice had skittered ahead of the rest, gaining a lead. Tail whipping. it bounded off a wall and launched itself at them, teeth bared.
