It really was hard to explain. Even though he knew the creatures he saw were just in his head, distorted and warped versions of the animatronics from back home, it was still unsettling seeing them in the corner of his vision and constantly following him. But she wouldn't have any idea - she couldn't see them. He didn't doubt the existence of real, physical monsters here, but surely not the ones in his head.

"... sh--shadows," Jeremy eventually answers, bringing his knees closer to his chest. He's well aware it's pitiful and pathetic of him, but fear has a way of caring a lot less about outward appearances. "They've been-- they ... they follow me-- I-I know they're not real. But it-- ... ever since ... it's been months ..."

At this point, he's expecting her to move along and ignore his crazy rambling any time now.
