Combat was a troll specialty, so of course they had medics. Except, they tended to cull the weak or torture prisoners on the operating table. Psii thanked the two moons when Initiate clarified that Sam was the kind that healed. He dropped his baskets and shed his parka, moving his folding knife to his windbreaker pocket. He tossed the parka and his blanket unceremoniously at Initiate. "Hate" was such a strong word to describe the enmity with which they gently thumped against Initiate's shoulder. Psii preferred "intense dislike."

He circled to Initiate's other side, glowering as he unpacked some protein bars within reach. It took some effort not to simply grab him by the collar and give him a good shake. I have rope, I'll tie your handth to your hornth if I have to," he snapped. Psii was familiar with the ways a troll could be captured and restrained. A troll was less likely to break rope if their horns were at risk. "Or will you let human Sam work in peathe while I get thome water and firewood?"

He glanced at Sam, bringing his voice down to a more polite level. He realized this human was the most qualified to direct this shitshow. "Should I go out for wood now, or do you need my help firtht? Do we have enough thread and bandageth? I can make more, but I'd need time to boil them." Thread could be harvested from Psii's reed rope, and bandages could be cut from his blanket or the windbreaker he still had on. He had no cooking pot, but hot stones dropped into a filled basket boiled water just fine.
