Who| Sam Wilson and Jet Link
What| treehouse shenanigans
When| week one, before the fire
Where| in the treeeeees
Warnings/Notes| will update as needed!

He's taken to the trees this morning, climbing high enough that no one down below will bother him, while he sharpens some sticks into spears, carves notches into some others to make a deadfall trap later. And also high enough that he can try to scout around, see if there's any signs of animals or other Tributes.

That second reason has him climbing up and down several trees, occasionally moving right from one to another, when the branches overlap well enough. He gets lucky, eventually, and spots something in one of the trees that definitely doesn't look natural. It looks a hell of a lot like a treehouse, actually, and he's debating between hunkering down to try to catch sight of who's setting it up, and fleeing the opposite direction before whoever it is can spot him. If they haven't already.

But his mind's made up for him when he catches sight of Jet - or at least, who's pretty sure is Jet - and he grins, climbing down out of his tree and heading over.

There's no way he can approach without being spotted, so he doesn't even try, just stops close by and calls up, "That doesn't happen to have central heating, does it?"

Jet had thought he'd seen someone in a tree nearby, but since an arrow didn't come careening at his head in that time, he took it to mean he either hadn't been spotted or the person doing the spotting didn't care. When he saw it was Sam, a smile grew on his face before the other man had even gotten to the base and said anything. Thank god he was still okay.

Jet continued tying the branches together with smaller branches and fixing them into a suitable roof to keep any precipitation out. "Oh yeah, it's really advanced too. We call it a fire pit. You wanna come up and take a look?" Obviously Sam could climb that high and who knew what state he was in, if he was thirsty or hungry or really that cold, Jet could fix him up.

By the time Sam's up with him, Jet's just finishing the last bit of the roof and spreading the leaves out a bit to cover any holes, although the density of leaves and branches is concentrated towards the middle. The 'floor' is made of a mix of thick and thin branches, all of them long and hung between the branches of the tree they were in like a boardwalk. A bed of stones set into a circle sits just off of center and hosts a couple of thick, chopped up, branches that pop and glow with flames. All in all, nothing too fancy, but not too shabby for a couple of city boys with survival training.

"It's not perfect, but it's better than laying around on the ground waiting for someone to come along and stab us in our sleep."

He motioned for Sam to take a seat near the middle next to the fire (the optimal place for warmth, Jet had discovered) and took his own so he could lean against the trunk of the tree. "How're you making out? Do you need anything? We've got some supplies to spare."

Jet took it and smirked as he turned it over in his hands. "A sharp, perfectly leathal rock, how thoughtful. It's even good for whittling away at wood." He winked and started to set it aside to use later when he thought better of it and pulled a shorter stick over his leg instead and started working away at the end of it to turn it sharp.

He had a knife now, but he was half hoping he could make up some kind of bow and arrow set up somehow (the string was the hard part) so arrows would be needed. Worst case: the sharp stick would probably be good for stabbing someone or something if needed.

A part of him hated how easy it was these days to think like that, but he and Venus had talked about something similar just during the last arena. When it came down to a choice between the people you wanted to protect and someone else, there was no choice and no time for hesitation. You had to be prepared if you wanted to give as much protection as you could. Albert wouldn't let himself think too much that way, so Jet would have to do it for the both of them.

"Where're you guys staying? We haven't been moving too far from this area, but I haven't seen any sign of your usual crowd around."
