She stood still for a moment watching as the woman seemed to be coming to reason and the gun tapped against her foot lightly. Part of her bitterly wanted to throw the gun back at her and continue the fight now if only out of spite. But this was the first opponent to see the light of things.
Slowly, wincing Sandy lowered her trembling arm with tears in her eyes from the pain. She blinked them away with a stoney expression and knelt down to take the gun and squirt her wounds washing the sizzling burn clean.
"This may be a game to them, but it's more then that. You can be better then who they think you are."
Satisfied with the numbness that was settling over her blisters she dropped the gun and scurried off towards the go-karts. The final stretch was just ahead and she still wasn't dead.
