If Pruna had not been in the emptiness then Sandy's voice would have gotten through, would have made her pause. But she was focused. All that mattered was Mindy, her target.

Dave's voice did not register, neither did Sandy's. Clementine's death had been tactically sound, Mindy was attacking now and she was the focus, she had a knife. Pruna didn't. Pruna knew how well trained Mindy was, they had fought before, Mindy had beaten Pruna.

But she wouldn't this time. Pruna darted forward to close the distance and kicked, aiming for just under Mindy's knees.
