Sigma raises his eyebrows when she withdraws the Gem. He had seen it before, in a vision and in person - he knew it to be the source of her power, for when it was exhausted, she became inhuman. He is so touched that she might try to use it to fix his arm that for a moment he can feel the sting of tears burning at the back of his throat. He swallows them.
