This development only serves to intrigue him further. It isn't something he'd expected from his friend. Enjolras could be severe and unforgiving. Unrelenting, yes, that word works nicely. The idea of him not only forgiving Venus, but then becoming entangled with her is a new and novel one. It shows a great change in Courfeyrac's friend.
