He steps gingerly through the exhibit, his head turning this way and that to take in every detail. He has mentally mapped the general layout of the floor—knows that the cafeteria exists, knows that he’ll likely run into more than one Tribute there. But for now, he remains in the exhibit. It’s not remarkable, in any academic way. He’s seen more exciting fossils designed for children’s field trips. But those are idle thoughts, one that take away from his overall focus.
So that may be why he misses the figure moving under the cover, at least at first. He gets too close, before realizing.
