He got most of what he needed, so Don began to walk off, carefully, quietly. However, as he did, he noticed that Lyle was gone, nearing the exit.

He wasn't going to panic. No. He could ill afford to. However, he knew that he might be able to find supplies off of the two boys, and defend himself for it, if there was one person left guarding then. It was a risk, given that he knew very little about either - and one was suddenly gone - but it was a chance he decided was worth taking.
