Thane didn't consider himself a monster, of course. The men who hired him certainly had been, though. And those he killed may have considered him one. He took in the man's face before him, he looked different - different from other humans, at the very least. Even though Christopher seemed careless, Thane still had his guard up. They were in the middle of a battle to the death. There was no reason for him to think for a moment that any person he met here was safe.
