She heard the roar and it made her blood run cold even as she scrambled backwards from the raptors, scraping her palms as she did it. Her back hit a tree and by chance - by pure, random chance - there was a crevice inside the trunk. Big enough for her but too small, way too small, for Hawkeye or the raptors. That didn't matter, she thought as she scrambled inside, if she could get in it she could make tons of noise and distract them and then Hawkeye could--
"No!" She screamed, reflexively, as she saw the jaws clamp down on his arm. One of the raptors immediately whipped around and snapped at the air where she had been the second before - it's movement having caused her to slam backwards into the tiny hollow of the tree.
Safe. Trapped. But she could still see. Oh god, but she could see.
"Leave him alone!" She cried desperately, even as she knew it was in vain.
