Fish Roulette

WHO| Neeshka and OPEN!
WHAT| Exploring the aquatic buffet
WHEN| Night of the second day after the Cornucopia
WHERE| A beach at the southern end of the big island, around R10
WARNING/NOTES| Nothing worse than DnD-style cursing, at the moment

Coconuts weren't particularly filling, Neeshka had found. With no knife or anything of the sort yet, she couldn't hunt snakes or those big birds she'd seen on the shore now and then-- though she'd had to run away from a couple of the latter, when she ventured out onto the sand during the daytime. Those were some big, scary birds, if you asked her. Not that she hadn't seen scarier in her time, but still: usually she had someone else with a sword to hide behind.

Now, at night again and with the heat a little less intense, she was wading out into the shallows attempting to catch her some dinner there, with only a single craggy piece of rock she'd managed to break off from a boulder on the seaward side of the island, but then didn't have the knowledge to actually shape and sharpen. Already she'd cut her fingers on its awkward edges twice, and gotten a hand-full of spines from a fish with her other hand-- which then got away-- so life wasn't really going so hot right now.

Nor was it going particularly quietly. There was a lot of splashing and more than a few muttered curses going on, so it wouldn't be hard to find her.

Oh, Revya was quite excited at what she found. After seeing the other, smaller islands, she was betting some of the Tributes would run for them, escaping the bigger island everyone had to go too. But then Revya found someone stumbling about, making a decent amount of noise. So she could wait... and when someone else was focused on killing that idiot, she could kill both of them in one go.

But then the slight rumble of Revya's stomach ruined her plan. ... Fuck killing, she was hungry. She walked closer to the splashing and called out, trying to catch sight the person in the darkness. "Either there's a beached whale thrashing about, or there's some idiot making the same amount of noise with a lot less food on hand. You do have something eat, right?" The tone was clearly degrading, but it wasn't hostile.

Revya crossed her arms. With the help of the voice, she now knew where the person was. Revya agreed with the point, but probably not in the same way as Neeshka. "Agreed. It's pretty stupid to think sharpened sticks and pointy rocks is any kind of fun. Especially when half of the people here don't even wanna kill. Pathetic. Might as well watch two babies try and gum each other to death."

The figure Revya sighted was pretty scrawny. Which meant it'd be easier to break some bones, but they might have a good chance at running away. But they -were- in the water, so it'd be easier to cut them off.

"Unless you're part of the other half that wants to kill people... or, you know, you wanna die or something... You should probably keep fishing. You could swear completely loyalty and I'd maybe help. ... Ah, right. Don't have that anymore. ... Don't really have much anymore. Damn, really. How am I supposed to kill everyone like this?"

Revya grumbled to herself, forgetting she was threatening someone here or something.

"Wroooong. Everyone dies. Hell, everyone deserves to die. What makes dying early so special? Nothin'. You just gotta go and do whatever the hell you want. Like for example..."

Revya walked towards Neeshka and the water. The woman was annoying, and the hunger was annoying. She could get rid of at least one.

"You know what, I can't think of an example. Just gonna kill you. For no reason."

No rush, no worries. Your typical creepy serial killer from a horror film that never runs, just walks.

"Heh heh... You think knowing names is important? That's pretty damn funny. I've killed a whole lotta people, and only three or four actually knew my name. No one really asked. But hey, what do I care. My names Revya."

Continuing her calmed advance despite the growing distance, Revya noticed the rock in one of Neeshka's flailing hands. Oh man, really? That's just... stupid.

"Aw, c'mon. We're friends now, right? You know my name, I know I want to kill you... At least put up a fight! I'm sure you can scratch me with that stupid rock or something while I break your neck."

Honestly just mocking this coward was fun enough to pass the time for Revya. She didn't really have any intention of catching up to her. ... Though if that did happen, Revya would definitely try to kill that girl.

"And be glad because that's the only reason why I haven't completely annihilated everyone in this stupid arena, inside and out of it. But the thing is you still have that freaky tail, don't you? 'Cause you're not human."

Revya left it at that. She was nervous, but didn't register it. Really, she felt completely weak. But she still had some semblance of power. There was just nothing to compare it to. None of this she thought about, it was just what caused her to click her tongue and stop walking.

"Maybe you're right. Smashing those hairy rocks growing on the trees doesn't really work out. I need to find someone well-built and see how much damage I can do."

And with that, killing Neeshka was forgotten. Revya started mumbling to herself. It looked like she would be there for a while.

"Next guy I see... Smash his kneecap in. See if I can break the thigh-bone... Maybe I can break a skull if I use my elbow..."

Revya was nudged out of her mumbling. She was surprised the little imp was still there. And she was asking... why? "Yeah, it's fun. People do it all the time, and for much stupider reasons." She seemed to like the word 'stupid.' "I'm just being selfish, like everyone else. But hell, what's wrong with that? Thinking everyone has to have responsibility and be an upright morale person is just garbage fed down your throat by people who don't even follow their own lessons."

Well, that was a sore spot. Revya was being bitter and sulking instead of angry. At this point, she would normally lash out to forget about things, or just go to sleep and leave everything to that person... But she had no power to lash out. 'That Person...' Gig. She had devoured his soul. No hopes of him coming back.

"Ah, that's fine. Let's get along until it becomes necessary to back-stab one another then. That's what counts as 'working together' here, right?"

Her smile was just so NICE and WARM. Really though, after literally everyone she had gathered turned against her at the very end... And after crushing them all, of course, Revya still considered Neeshka an enemy. Just a more friendly one. Like second place in a 'Who I'm gonna kill next' contest.

"Know anyone nearby right now? I've been wanting to see how the whoevers would retrieve a corpse if it was sunk to the bottom of the lagoon. I mean, they do have to get it, right?" Revya walked to a more acceptable talking distance. There was still some distance, of course. It was restraint, just in case the girl didn't have a good answer.

Oh man, this was weird. The odd girl was being chummy and all touchy touchy. Revya jerked away from the arm, giving Neeshka a look that said what the hell? And then she said: "What the hell? I'm not your friend so don't get all giggly and warm like a candy-ass." No, seriously. She's been around idiots and energetic idiots, but not energetic idiots that popped her personal space bubble. She most certainly wasn't the one to hold back any complaints about things that annoyed her as well. At least it was annoyed in a normal fashion instead of murderous one. In any case, Revya was ready to go and would do so when Neeshka left...
