Terezi wasn't expecting for him to come back to her. She skids to a halt just moments before the hand is at her throat. Her hand grips his wrist instinctively, nails digging in even though she doesn't intend to hurt him.
In an instant, her back hits the tree and she cries out--a strangled noise that cuts off as the air is knocked out of her lungs. And even as she struggles to breath again, her other hand rises to grip the first. It's hard to tell if she's trying to pull him off or just holding on to keep him from leaving.
The roar has her cringing back, gripping his wrist tighter. "Makara..." she tries to say, but her lips move and very little sound makes it out.
