Cornucopia: The Sequel

WHO| Everyone going back to the Cornucopia
WHAT| Picking on the leftovers. Who lives? Who dies? Who looks exceptionally smashing in their Tribute unforms?
WHEN| Two days in
WHERE| The Cornucopia.
WARNING/NOTES| Violence! Possible salty language!

Max made slow headway toward the Cornucopia. Even while her genetic enhancements were being suppressed, she still had sharp eyes and could move with great stealth. Pausing, she half turns while keeping her eyes on the area to murmur to the others with her.

"Lottie, you and Tony think you can manage to collect some things? Don and I will keep an eye on you both."

She sees a spot that looks like it might be clear for a snatch and grab and gestures that she intends to move forward unless her team tries to stop her.

God, it's hot out here. A hell-hole really, and Tony's actually somewhat familiar with those. He feels exposed and vulnerable, and yeah, maybe he's got some sort of alliance with la femme nikita and the turtle. Lottie too, he supposes, but Tony has a hard time viewing her as anyone other than someone he should be trying to save from this place.

Yeah.

Saving people.

He does that, thank you very much.

Doesn't mean he's exactly feeling like waltzing through the streets with them though.

"I've always had fairly reputable collection skills," Tony says with a shrug. "You guy work the perimeter while blondie and I make a run for it?"

Don wasn't entirely comfortable with doing another run on the Cornucopia. He knew that once people realized that there were still supplies left, they would come and fight over them. And they would be on Tony and Lottie if him and Max weren't careful.

"That works." Don nodded. "Just be careful."

Tony he wasn't as worried about. He was pretty sure when push came to shove, the guy could figure out a way to defend himself. Lottie, on the other hand, was an all too easy target. She wasn't as able (or perhaps, less not able and more not willing) to defend herself.

Eliot looked up as he heard a pair of footsteps. He yanked the end of the fuse loose of the platform and stood. "Shit," he muttered under his breath.

He turned to where the girls stood safely away from the platform. "We have company!"

Shell.

He saw a group of them right ahead. And one of them - oh, he wasn't doing what Don thinks he's doing-

"Shell...!" Quickly he turns to Tony, before leaping to the front. "If you were thinking of salvaging those land mines, you've got competition."

Eliot stuffed the salvaged land mine in the bag. He looked over at the girls. "Can one of you keep digging the mines up?" he asked urgently. "I'll keep them off of you and get the fuses out of the platforms, but we're gonna have to take turns."

Not that he had expected this to just be a walk in the park, but it sure was heating up fast out here. And not just temperature-wise.

"That's our queue, little lady," Tony winks at Lottie and reaches for her arm. A silent nod to Max, there's a rotted out bumper car, flakes of red paint and a rusted off steering wheel, tipped over on it's side and it will suffice for some cover for now.

"I need... something," he says aloud. To himself mostly, but if Lottie hears him and sees something useful he won't complain. Not that he's finishing his thoughts to help that along. "Scrap of metal, flat rock. Whatever. Faster the better."

He isn't afraid to get his hands dirty, by any means, but tools will help, and by the looks of things, he wasn't the only one who had taken the warning "the platforms are rigged to explode if you step off before your 30 seconds is up" as an invitation to swipe some explosives.

They might think their technology is superior here, but Tony is just, well, he's just glad the times have finally caught up with him in that regard. All he needs... is the opportunity to get at them.

There is a a flat and rusty foot pedal that might serve as a shovel. The steering column from the wheel; good for prying things open.

"Here we go," he says, pulling them off the broken bumper car. Pulls off both pedals even, and hands one to Lottie. He doesn't expect her to help him with this, but maybe she can throw it at someone's head if she needs.
