(no subject)

WHO| Lottie, Yutaka, and anyone else who might stumble upon them.
WHAT| Trying to stay alive.
WHEN| A few days after the cornucopia.
WHERE| Higher ground, let's say 12-I?
WARNING/NOTES| None at the moment.

"Aw hush."

Lottie swatted at her belly as it grumbled furiously at the plants she was gathering aloung the slippery cliff edge.

They were disgusting, and bland, and chewy. But not deadly, and she was seeing that that was what really counted. They had managed to scourge up enough to keep their bellies full.

If not happy.

Her simple weaving skills had been used to make a sorta net thing that kept a lot of rains off.

"Some ferns on top and it's just like the summer home..." She muttered with disdain.

Yutaka had found berries blooming on a bush earlier, a nettled, hostile-looking bush, and, exercising caution for once, he had ripped off a handful and had rubbed them along his wrists and lips to determine whether they were safe to eat.

They weren't. And now he was covered in the most unflattering of rashes--but smiling. He was determined to smile. He was scared to death, really, but he knew Lottie was, too. It wouldn't do any good to have the both of them scared.

Stay frosty, Mim always used to say.

He longed for an ice cream soda.

"What summer home?" Yutaka asked curiously; and the smile stayed in place.

He was impressed with the netting Lottie had built; an excitable type of boy, easily endeared, he had spent a good ten minutes insisting he had never seen anything quite so cool. (That was a lie, he reflected with guilt. Elvis Presley was slightly cooler. But then he had never seen Elvis in person, now had he?)
