i want to do bad things with you
Who| Susannah, Harley, and Detta
What| Susannah hoped having a friend around will help her keep herself together in the Arena. She picked the wrong friend.
Where| Section One of the Maze
When| not too long after the Cornucopia
Warnings/Notes| Hella manipulation on Harley's part. Detta fucking Walker. Terrible people being terrible. To be added to if needed.
Like always in the arena, the sight of a friend helps bring Susannah back to herself, although maybe not as easily as it had with Bert or with Eddie. But maybe that's due to the friend in question.
"Harley!" Susannah waves her longspear as she jogs forward to catch up with her friend. "You have no idea how glad I am to see you, sugar!"

Casting a sideways glance at the spear she gave a whistle "that's a sharp looking toothpick there brown sugar. Have you practiced with it?"
She didn't want to stand still for long so once Susannah had caught up she started a light jog.

"What?! Oh come on she's practically suicidal! You didn't have ta do that." She slapped a hand to her face in frustration.
"I can't believe I was patching her up from something you did Susie Q! You're lucky we're friends."

"You gotta really trip to stap someone with a spear accidentally. I guess I'll forgive ya if you apologize to her after the arena."
She was so distracted by the conversation her foot slipped out from under her and she let out a "yikes!!!" Flailing and scrambling in place. She hadn't even realized they were running up on some ice.
A wall slid into place behind them, they were trapped in this tunnel and the ice stretched on ahead of them.
no subject
"I didn't trip," she manages to wheeze, holding tight to her friend. "We were both grabbin' the same one on different ends and her end was the pointy one."
no subject
"Ok, that's more reasonable...now. How we gonna deal with this hall way of ice?"
An ominous crack echoed under them as a spiderweb of hairline cracks spread from under Harley's foot.
"Thin ice..." She corrected herself swallowing hard.

Still holding onto Harley, she attempts to inch her way forward on the ice.

She remained firmly planted in place for a moment as Susannah got ahead of her before inching along behind her, arm in arm.
"For that matter...how much do you weigh? I'm probably a buck fifty, maybe one seventy?" She guessed having never been too keen on measuring herself. "And I got about five pounds worth of bag here..."

"So let's do some math. Both of us weighing roughly one sixty, moving at an average speed of what...two feet a minute? One foot? Without knowing how much pressure this ice can take from the force of impact, what would be the fastest way for us to distribute our weight and keep moving? There's gotta be some formula right? Weight times impact divided by speed or something? Maybe throw a pi in there somewhere? I love pie."
no subject
But there's no pencil and paper here. There's only the ice which is cracking more and more every second and a goddamn math problem is the only way to save them and she's been here before, she's been in this exact situation, with Blaine and his goddamn pump that primed backwards, needing to use goddamn math to save her life and who had she needed then?
The same bitch she needs now.
She closes her eyes. Her expression--though she can't see it--shifts. And then she's moving both of them across the ice, all according to her mental calculations. And they must be sound, because they reach the other side without either of them.
She opens her eyes. "Now whatchu think 'bou dat?" Detta says, before Susannah can reassert herself.
no subject
"I think you are perhaps the smartest, best looking cyborg I've ever met. And I'm thinking you'll have a lot more fun with that spear if you keep ahold of the wheel. Ya know the only way to buy us more time is to kill suckers right?"
Harley had been thinking about this ever since finding out about Susie's little secret, and she might have felt guilty about it before, but that was before Elsa had died to save her.
Now Harley had one more reason she had to win. And if that meant making a deal with the devil? So be it.
"So how about you recite pi as far as you can and we get back in the game "Legs"?"
i feel song of susannah justifies this kind of body struggle
Detta, don't you dare--
Susannah tries to surge forward to regain her autonomy, but she's blocked by the wall of numbers her lips have begin to recite: "Three point one four one five nine two six five three five nine..."
The Dogan. Visualize the Dogan, girl, see if you can get your body back that way. But Susannah's Dogan is inaccessible, walled off by more numbers, only these are zeroes and ones and she realizes, with dawning horror, that her own powers of visualization might have qualified as a gift to be taken away, just as Jake's touch would have been, and there might in fact be no way in.
So she shouts and rails from inside her head and still the numbers beat on and on and it's tiring, the struggle, for all that it requires no physical effort, and Detta just starts the numbers up again once she reaches the end of those she knows.
Eventually it tires her enough that she stops struggling.
Fine. You win for now.
I agree~
"Sparklies!" She cheered sliding her bag off and opening it up to scoop as many as she could inside.
"They never said we could only take one right?" She flicked one to Detta "in case we get separated you better have one of these. Can't have you taking a dirt nap because I've got your loot right?"
al you haven't even read dark tower (but you really should)
She gives the spear a good shake.
I'll put it on my list
She was glad that the only other person left in the arena she liked was Pruna. Elsa and Detta probably wouldn't have gotten on well.
GOOD DO IT
:)
"I like Susie just fine, never met Odetta." She commented keeping conversation while jogging as only Harley could "But I'm thinking you and I might have more uncommon. Especially when it comes to having fun!"
A playful wink and she drew a finger across her neck to indicate violence.
:D
