Death becomes her. [Closed]
Who| Guy and Mindy
What| Mindy's death
Where| Not long from where the bear trap closed on her leg and the tussle that ensued.
When| Second week's end.
Warnings/Notes| Blood and so much cursing. SO much cursing.
"FIGHTING EVIL BY MOONL-" Bad coughing followed, and another sweat word. She was on the floor now, dragging her body on the ground. The beat trap hurt in the first few minutes, so bad she screamed for all the time, but it was deadening now. Any idiot knew what that meant. The bear trap had all but ripped her leg off. Not that it mattered.
"WINNING LOVE BY DAYLIGHT."
Which was bullshit, really. When was that bitch ever winning love? She was mostly acting like a stupid blonde bitch obsessing about boys like every other fucking girl they told you to act like. Did any of those fucking senshi not obsess about dick?
Oh yeah, that blue haired chick. The brain. Well that figured. Her and that Velma chick from Scooby Doo. Maybe they were lesbians, which was why they didn't act like their fucking brains were sucked out of their heads. Too busy being smart.
"Yup, just think about cartoon lesbians," Mindy croaked, crawling forward. "Who was that other chick, Peppermint Patty? She totally was, and they made her say she liked Charlie Brown. Who the fuck would fall for that bald headed pussy? In New York he'd probably be a Hipster or something..."
Ugh, more vomiting of blood. Death was coming, she felt it.

Kids. He already knew they had kids in this place, but the reality was something different when seen. She was dying, that much was obvious. Like an animal, but the sick part was that even for animals, he usually made a cleaner kill. No point in having them struggle, in having them be scared and in pain.
And the poor girl was clearly delirious. Half of what she was saying didn't make any sense.
It wasn't that he didn't think she was dangerous, because anyone could be dangerous, which is why he kept his distance. His own adopted little sister was pretty much a terror when hunting and it was his great fortune that she wasn't one to the people she loved.
But this girl, like Sandy, was still young. She still deserved a life free of pain. If she wasn't one of the ones that would wake up again, she still deserved more time.
He kept his distance, but moved closer, and spoke up so she wouldn't be startled by his presence.
"You're going to just make it worse if you keep moving," he said quietly, holding up one hand placatingly. He tucked his knife in his belt and held up the other to show he had no weapons. "You need to stay still. It won't...it won't help but it'll hurt less."
no subject
"What the hell'a you wearing?" She said, her eyes making out that much. "What's with the shirtless look? Showing off the guns?"
She saw the knife, and now her mind was connecting with the words he was saying.
"Nah," she said, shuddering. "I was stupid enough to get caught, I'll let the death come. It'll...remind me how it feels. But, do me a favor, keep me company? Dying alone would suck."
Fuck, was she tearing? That was the last thing she needed right now!

Guy looked around, listened, just to make sure they were alone, make sure no one would catch them unaware. He didn't hear any noises.
"I can stay with you," he said quietly, and he sat down on a rock, not far from her. He didn't want to spook her by getting too close, not unless she seemed comfortable with it. "I can also make it faster if you want, since you're in pain. Your choice."
It wasn't an offer many would give to a child. Many would care more about how it made them feel to kill one rather than what she was feeling. Many would make a choice for her rather than respecting her enough to give her one.
But Guy had been a child that had made more hard choices for himself than most would make in a lifetime. Children could make choices. They could even make smart ones. They could certainly make ones about what they wanted most.
And she had to be blood-sick by now, if she hadn't died from the injury straight off. Just like he'd almost died once, from a scorpion sting. Everything had to hurt. If she wanted that to end faster, he was willing to give that to her.
If not...
"If not, I'll just stay here."
no subject
She looked over at the guy. "You'd kill a kid that was obviously suffering. Man, I'm actually sorta sorry I'm dying. It'd be cool to get to know you. Too many people have weak stomachs, wouldn't sleep well at night or some shit."
Mindy managed, at least, to get herself in a sitting position, each second excruciating.
"What's your name?"
no subject
"It can get a liiittle rough where I come from. There were a few times I was almost where you are, and if I had been, I'd have wanted someone there to do it for me."
And before Belt, he wouldn't have had anyone. He'd have died alone, scared, and in pain. Luckily, he'd kept going long enough to figure out the little tricks to make life easier, better, and way, way more fun.
"I'm Guy. Guy Crood." He asked gently, "What's yours?"
no subject
"Mindy, Mindy Macready. Where are you from, Guy?"
That name though. Really?
no subject
He knew that wouldn't make sense to anyone else so he tried to find a way to explain it.
"Our old world ended. The ground broke up and swallowed up everything. So me and a family I fell in with found a mountain and from there we rode the sun to a new world, to the world that was supposed to come the next day after the one we were in." He made a gesture of a little person jumping across a great distance with his fingers. "So we call it Tomorrow. We were safe there - for the most part. There are some nasty predators but we take care of each other, and it's beautiful there."
His gaze got a little distant.
"It doesn't have ugliness like this."
no subject
And there was the pain again, flaring and racking her with coughing and blood. Suddenly she remembered what that bitch said: that she would die of her injuries sow, and that it would hurt her all the way. Now, apparently, Mindy was feeling spiteful.
"Sorry this place is so ugly, but I just got here myself. Hey, Guy, you know, I think I might take you up on that earlier offer of yours."
no subject
After all, if they were willing to kill a little girl, they'd have no hesitation in killing him. Which meant he'd have no hesitation in killing them.
no subject
Damn it, she was going colder, the shock was coming. "Shouldn't be hard to miss. Got her in the eye. You got an advantage there."
no subject
"I'm going to slit your throat, okay? You'll bleed out pretty fast."
He talked quickly, not wanting to waste much more time when she was in pain. His voice was gentle.
"They said some people come back. They can bring them back somehow. I hope you come back, so that you can get out of here someday. If not, then I hope whatever Tomorrow you go to is better than this."
no subject
Ah. AH.
"Yeah, me too. I can...do better than...t-his....quick, man."
no subject
"Close your eyes," he said. "It'll hurt but it'll be over soon."
Then with a hand that didn't tremble even though the rest of his body was shaking, he reached over, pressed the knife down, and slit her throat with one quick, jerking motion.
If killing her quickly made him an angel, then he was sporting a very shiny halo, because he did exactly what was promised. The cut was enough to sever her jugular.
It would end very fast, which was why Guy quickly put the knife to the side, and with a bloody hand he reached up to brush the hair off her forehead. He let it rest there, trying to comfort her. With the other hand, he reached for hers and gave her something to hold on to.
"Don't fight it," he said gently. "Just go to sleep. It'll be over soon."
no subject
Like this, quick, merciful? Not how she would have thought, but it was the first time. She could have starved, or been left to die of the leg. Instead, the guy extended his hand out of understanding. Death was hard and cruel. This was a gift.
"T-thanks," she said, trembling, feeling herself go, and then, her eyes closing, the pain was gone.

There was no sound. Then there was, as the sound of thunder suddenly rumbled concussively through the air. Guy sat up like a shot, half-kneeling, half-on his feet, reaching for his knife. As he stayed crouched there, he looked around and listened, expecting some kind of attack.
After some time, when none came, he looked back to the girl, lying there, pale in death.
First thing was first, he needed to steal anything useful she had, food, water, weapons, anything. He was still alive, after all, and the living needed to eat. She had some strange lumpy things that might have been some kind of edible root, so he took those and put them in the woven vine bag he had with him. There was some kind of sharp stick embedded in her wrist but that was useless to him.
Then he was left with a dead body, and he wasn't quite ready to leave it yet. He knew people had rituals for this. He hadn't found out what the rituals were for cave-people since none of his new family had died yet but at the very edge of his memory, he could see a body being lowered into a hole in the ground. He'd been young then, hadn't really understood what was happening until he was older. The group of nomads his family had spent some time with had lost one of their own to old age.
He didn't remember all of the rituals but he remembered some. And hey, he was good with winging things, right? He could just make up the rest.
So rather than just leaving her in the dirt, he moved her so that she was laying down instead of sitting. He composed her body, placing her hands palm down over her heart, as if to protect it. Then he tried to think of something else to do, something else to make up.
Looking down at the stripes on his body, he thought of something. Where her blood mingled with the dirt, he mixed it up a bit, until it was a red-brown mud, and then reached up to her face.
Some kind of symbol, that was what she needed. Something for good luck. Guy didn't know if people had something of themselves that went on after death, but if she wasn't coming back, if something of her outlasted her body, if there was somewhere to go, she might need a little luck and strength getting there. So on each cheek, he drew a little fire. Something to light her way, that she could carry with her to hold back the dark if she needed it on the way there.
On her foreheead, he drew the brightest, most beautiful thing he could think of: the sun. That was perfect. Yes, he'd give her the sun so it could be her guide.
So she could follow the light. Maybe a Tomorrow would be waiting for her. Maybe it'd even be the same one where his family was.
After that, it seemed like enough.
"I'm so sorry this happened to you," he said quietly, and then wiping off his hands and his knife as best as he could in the grass, he stood up and walked away, his eyes open so that he could find a girl that only had one.
